Within walking distance of the Grand Mediterranean Hotel is this wonderful local restaurant with excellent Italian ambiance and great tasting food. The place gets very busy and service can be a bit slow as there is a limited number of servers. I would recommend getting there early when it opens at 7PM. We shared the grilled T bone at 4euros/100gm (minimum 600gm) which was grilled perfectly. The entree came with a nice fresh salad. The house Chianti was exceptional. Panna cotta desert was tasty with complimentary limoncello. It's a great place to enjoy your evening after a long day of touring.

After a long trip from Rome, we stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant! Great service and nice quaint ambiance.

We ordered the grills which had a great portion and a pizza to share which was freshly baked and done really well! We topped our dinner with a tiramisu since we saw many people ordering it and we weren't disappointed at all. All in all, the dinner was really worth every buck and bite ;)

We decided to visit La Taverna the second evening of our stay in Florence. We went there from close B&B hotel around 8 p.m. The restaurant was open, but we were stopped in the door by a waitress and she sent us out and shout that we can come after 10 minutes because the staff have dinner now. That was rude enough for us and we decided to find another place to eat.

We ate there a few times while we stayed in Florence. Recommanded by our Hotel. Behind the Grand Hotel Mediterraneo in a less touristic area, lots of local people. The food was very good. Tagliatelle was very good. Plenty of food. Good choice. About 12-15 Euro for a meal.

This is a neighbourhood place near our hotel but away from the tourist area, and correspondingly cheap. But the pasta dishes were rather bad indeed, so I've been generous in calling it "average" in the title! Hard to say what was wrong but both of us could not finish our dishes and left feeling dissatisfied with the lack of flavour. If eating in this area again, I would venture towards Piazza Sant'Ambrogio instead of sticking to Via Cimabue.
