“Best Place for Coffee in Oltrarno”
Reviewed 13 February 2013

Comfy and authentic place where one can relax and have a good coffee at an acceptable price. Good address to read and be alone or to hang out with friends.

“Comfy Cafe for Relaxing Afternoon Coffee”
Reviewed 13 January 2013

We were looking for a place to recharge our batteries after a packed morning of sight-seeing and walking. We found this place on TripAdvisor and headed to check it out. There were plenty different seating options (tables with chairs, comfy chairs, cozy couches), seating both upstairs and down, free wifi (ask the guy behind the counter for the code). The cafe has a very good location on Oltrarno, just far away from the touristy spots to catch your breath but not so far away as to be inconvenient. We ordered two cappuccinos and a tea, which ran us EUR 5.5. We stayed there for more than an hour without any problems, reading and catching our breaths. A good place to keep in mind for an afternoon break.

“one of the few alternative cultural spaces in Florence”
Reviewed 23 August 2011

La Cite is a bookshop/bar/cafe, open all day until late, which has a good events programme, with a performance of some sort (music, dance, spoken word, theatre etc) most evenings. During the day it is more cafe-style, with patrons flicking through the selection of books on offer (usually alternative, from politics to art), whereas in the evening it becomes busier and more bar-like. Drinks are reasonably-priced (by Florence standards e.g. 3 euros for a glass of wine). Limited food e.g. tortillas, cakes on offer. One of the few places in Florence with this atmosphere and culture, and definitely one of the best.
