“One of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in”
Reviewed 30 August 2010

We have just returned from a short stay in Il Salviatino and I have to say it was truly one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in. The villa itself is absolutely magnificent. Just beautiful. From the detail in the decor throughout to the lovely rooms with rain showers in the bathroom. The food was superb for both breakfast and dinner. The pool area was divine – so relaxing and tranquil overlooking the beauty of the Tuscan hills outside Florence with extremely comfortable sun loungers.
What made this hotel and our stay was the service. The staff were so helpful. Their hospitality from the minute we walked through the door was superb. Beyond the hotels beauty and elegance it is the service that makes it. They go above and beyond any 5* hotel that I have ever stayed in making your stay so personable and enjoyable.
Thank you so much for such a fantastic time. My only regret was that we didn’t stay longer.

Il Salviatino is a wonderful haven from the mad rush of the modern world. The building has been beautifully restored and is in a great position overlooking Firenze, with a charming terrace where you can relax, drink and eat their wonderful food. The bedrooms, all individually styled, are excellent with stunning bathrooms and lovely decoration and furnishings. Best of all though are the staff who pay so much attention to your every need that you feel pampered and genuinely cared for. If you want to go somewhere special for a romantic break this is a great choice and with the magnificent city of Firenze only a short trip away there really is little more you could want for.

Il Salviatino was the best experience at a hotel I've ever had. I really shouldn't call it a hotel, as it far exceeds any expecations of a typical hotel. From your greeting to the door, to your personal ambassador, the meals, location, rooms, and overall service it is truly spectacular. My only regret is the short stay we had at Il Salviatino. If I could make a couple of small suggestions: a petite trash container in the toilet area would be most appreciated (as it is more convienent for women). Checking the tech functions in the room and bathroom. Our LCD lights didn't work in the shower. Suggested gratuity for sevrice in your book. Because Il Salviatino is not your average hotel, it is hard to gage when or when it is not appropriate to tip (meals, overall stay, ambassador). We noticed most did not leave a gratuity during the meal, but we did. We also weren't sure if we could add it to the end of our bill for our stay so we ran around looking for bills to leave at the table and room. Overall these are such small issues, and we would love to come back in the future. Best to the entire Il Salviatino staff who made our stay so special!

We stayed at Il Salviatino for 4 nights arriving after midnight after train delays from Venice. We missed our connecting train to Florence and there were no additional trains coming into Florence the night of our arrival. I called Il Salviatino and Stefan not only arranged a car to pick us up in Bologna but asked if they could have something to eat for us when we arrived. We arrived after midnight to the most beautiful property I have ever seen. Up a long winding entrance, we were met at the car and ushered into a beautiful villa and out to the terrace where a wonderful light meal was waiting. We received complete service with our "ambassador" asking of our every need. Candles were everywhere and when I asked how long do you keep them lit, it's 12:30 am, the response was" we kept them lit for you". That pretty much sums up Il Salviatio. My 8 year old son has the most luxurious rollaway in history, really more of a twin bed with linen duvet. Having breakfast on the beautiful terrace overlooking Florence will be one of my fondest memories ever. It was a wonderful vacation and we hope to return to enjoy the spa amenities that weren't ready during our stay. Thank you to everyone at Il Salviatino and we will definitely return.

Stayed 4 nights/5 days in a junior suite (room 30). Couldn't fault this hotel for anything - great value as the hotel is pretty much "all inclusive" - internet, parking etc (suites come with half board, breakfast and dinner), perfect service (kudos to the hotel for managing to be extremely professional without being stuffy or overly formal - seriously well trained and well informed staff), wonderful room (plenty of space - huge by European standards - with an amazing bath and (separate) shower). Location is perfect with a well organized hourly shuttle bus to Florence - about 20 mins by bus. Main building, grounds and pool are lovely - wish I had more time to spend in the hotel.

If you are a discerning traveler with a budget that can bear the cost (close to 700 Euro/night with taxes) this is THE choice in Florence. Well worth a special visit to Florence or Italy just to experience Il Salviatino. We had originally planned to stay in a villa but had to change our plans as we could only stay a few days here - this was a great option - felt very much like a private villa but with the comfort of a 5 star hotel. Very romantic location with great views. Would make an excellent location for a wedding.

Il Salviatino takes the hotel experience to another level. In all the many places I've travelled and stayed, nobody has done it quite like them. From the beautiful rooms that combine the history of the villa with modern amenities to the incredibly delicious food served on a terrace with the most breathtaking view of Florence to the service that can only be defined as perfect luxury, made for a fantastic trip that I did not want to end. Particular highlights include the very fun cooking class I took with the chef there where we learned to make delicious biscotti, tiramisu, ravioli, my massage and exploring il salviatino's grounds and other rooms. It is obvious here that care has gone into every detail and the result was well worth the effort (and price).

It is always a new experience when you can stop and just allow to take in a new experience . Time seem to have stopped sometimes in parts of Europe and I guess this is why i feel so welcomed especially in place like Firenze.
Il Salviatino has captured that very essence of floating time marrying history with a contemporary fresh feeling to it. Genuine smile and hospitality transpire form every experience from early morning till the rest of the sun.
Exactly what i needed to embellish my 10 years marriage celebration.
I might not wait 10 years this time to enjoy my breakfast there.
