For anyone who wishes to get away from the more sterile hotel atmosphere, this is a perfect choice. We have stayed at Casa Rabatti's numerous times and we have always felt truly 'at home' and a part of the family. Marcella is always in high spirits and we enjoy her humour and lively personality. It is evident that, for Marcella, running Casa Rabatti is not just a job; she really puts her heart into it and this is apparent in the way in which she establishes a rapport with each of her guests. She goes out of her way to make sure that each guest is happy and comfortable.
This experience indeed adds another dimension to our holiday- that of 'living' in an Italian home and thus experiencing much more of the Italian culture than would otherwise be possible.
The rooms are very clean and well-kept. They are furnished in an individual and interesting manner. The location is perfect for visiting the key sites of Florence (about a 5-minute walk).
We highly recommend a stay at Casa Rabatti.
Grazie per tutto, Marcella !

Casa Rabatti is run by a wonderful woman named Marcella. She is so eager to make sure you are having a good time, and makes you feel like you are staying with your grandmother. The rooms are an excellent value, and the double panes make for a sound night's sleep. Thank you notes from past guests adorn the walls of the lobby, attesting to Marcella's hospitality. While we were there we met several people who were coming back for their 3rd or 4th stay. I cannot recommend Casa Rabatti enough. One recommendation - I tried emailing Marcella to make our reservation, and received no response. Definitely try calling her directly. Although she speaks little English, she has been making reservations long enough to know the key vocabulary phrases.

We stayed here for three nights earlier this month. This was our first time in Florence and we were not too sure what to expect. We could not have been more pleased with Casa Rabatti. We did not have our own bathroom but it was literally 10 steps down the hallway. Our room was spotless as was the bathroom. We have been to Europe many times and have stayed in numerous different kinds of room, but this one was a rarity. Marcella was a fantastic host! I would recommend this location to any and all of my friends.
When I go back to Florence - I will happily stay @ Casa Rabatti!

I'm a big Rick Steve's fan, found this place in one of his guidebooks. All of the Steve's family Christmas cards are proudly displayed above the fridge. The description says if you want to feel like a member of an Italian family to stay here. Perfect description. Marcella is probably one of the nicest people I've met in my travels. I was traveling with friends and family while my brother was studying abroad. He had to go back to Rome for an exam the next day so wasn't staying with us, but she offered to set him up for the night if he needed to.

I had been to Florence a few times before, but she really layed out a nice map of the best ways to walk places, etc.

The room. We all shared one big room with a double bed and 3 twin beds. Marcella thought we were a family and kids when I booked didn't realize we were adults but no problem there. She aplogized profusely that should couldnt get a mark off the wall from the bed being too close to the wall. The place just smelled clean and you can tell she scrubs the heck out of everything there. And compared to some other options, that is just perfect.

Would absolutely stay here again!!

My husband and I stayed at Casa Rabatti at Rick Steves' recommendation. The price and location was right. We ended up in the four-man room with a private bath, which was extra space for just two people. The sheets and towels were clean, but were obviously dried on a line and were very stiff (especially the towels.) The shower had a tub, which was a welcome change!

Marcella runs the place and she's like having your Grandmother watch out for you while you're around. Upon arrival, she double-checked to make sure I had reservations at Accademia (I didn't so she helped me) and gave us a map with a mixed Italian/English explanation of where to go. Be forewarned: This is not your normal "hotel." Every time we came in the front door, Marcella would come from the back to greet us. However, we thoroughly enjoyed her.

By the way, there is no sign. Find the right address and ring the Rabatti bell! Marcella will let you in.

We found out about this place through a Rick Steves book. It was a good price, especially for Florence, so we booked it. We really enjoyed our stay here especially Marcella! She was very sweet and even though she spoke mostly Italian, we somehow understood the gist of what she was saying :) Location was good, walking distance to trains and all the important sites (Duomo, Uffizi, etc.) and gelato places (go to Grom!). And it's also close to a laundromat and internet cafe. Downside is there's no breakfast but that was ok. The rooms were definitely old fashioned, kinda like staying at gramma's house but we loved it coz it was utterly charming and homey. We'll definitely stay here again.

We stayed here based on Rick Steve's advice but it was disappointing. We found a pretty place right around the corner that charged the same price but included breakfast and en suite bathrooms. We had to share a bathroom, the towels stunk like mildew, we all had a few bedbug bites from our stay and we felt we had to tiptoe around so as not to disturb anyone.
