“Great location, junior suites are very nice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 October 2013

Pros

Location is perfect - you can walk to anything that matters and there are a thousand great restaurants ... Golden View gets a special plug (not affiliated with hotel) - they are on the Arno river just over the bridge - hotel can give you directions.
Rooms are good sized and clean (junior suite)
Fruit in the room - nice touch
Free mini bar and coffee maker (with junior suite) was nice
Nice shower - good water pressure
Lot's of plugs
Maid service is excellent

Cons

Breakfast was ok - not terrible, not great
Front desk staff was ok - not overly friendly ... accommodating but not out of their way friendly
Don't both with room service - food not good
Bathroom does not have a lot of room to put anything
Internet spotty but probably expected given location

General

There is a disco across the street - I had read reviews about the noise. The first night was loud and it was a Monday so didn't make sense. But the next two nights very quiet.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in a double deluxe room. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room very quiet so sleep was easy. The room was quite small but ok and the shower room was lovely - surrounded by marble. It transpires that a double deluxe means that the mini bar contents are free - sparkling and still water / soft drinks and 2 bottles of beer with snacks - no wine and entrance to the spa is free with a deluxe room. This is not clear when booking and didn't appear to be value for money for us as our break was very short and we didn't have time for the spa. The hotel doesn't have any atmosphere in the daytime or evening as everyone seems to go out. Upon check in the receptionist spoke so quickly we couldn't understand what she was saying. All in all a good base for exploring Florence but probably not worth the 300 euros a night price tag!

Dear Bollimidl,
we thank you very much for your positive review and are glad you enjoyed your stay at Golden Tower Hotel. I do not know if you have booked directly with us, as it is very clear on our website the difference between Classic and Deluxe Room.
Concerning the atmosphere, we only have 27 rooms, and as we are very very centrally located, most you prefer to visit Florence instead stop at the hotel (maybe)
We hope to welcome back and remain,
yours sincerely,

My wife and I are currently celebrating our 10th anniversary at the Golden Tower Hotel & Spa in Florence, and we couldn't be happier with the hotel. After staying for the past 5 days at the Hotel Eden in Rome (which set the bar very high for service and luxury), the service at the Golden Tower is at least as good, if not better. Upon our arrival (in the rain), we were immediately shown to our room (no wait). The room is a little small (though not unusual for Europe), but it is very luxurious and comfortable. We were still wet from the rain and trying to get situated when a complimentary bottle of champagne on ice was delivered to our room as an anniversary present from the hotel. It was a wonderful touch, and much appreciated at that moment. When I later tried to tip the concierge to thank her, she refused (a first, for me). When we needed reservations for the spa or directions to the restaurant (Quattro Leone - highly recommend), we were immediately helped.

The hotel is small (which I think is a positive here in Florence), beautifully decorated, and is perfectly located (which I think is most important). We can leave our room and walk to the Ponte Vecchio or the Duomo within 5 minutes. Top end shopping can be found around every corner. The breakfast here at the hotel was wonderful. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. We are staying here right now, and having the time of our lives. If something changes, we'll update the review, but I doubt that will happen.

I would highly recommend the Golden Tower to anyone visiting Florence. Perfect location and excellent service.

We stayed at The Golden Tower for four nights while we visited Florence and I would agree that the hotel is in an excellent location with a great staff and luxurious accomodations. The front desk is always manned and the lobby and dining area are very clean, spacious and elegant in the old-school way. The dining room has a superb white-linen breakfast every day with extensive choices should one decide on light or heartier fare.

The room we stayed at was very spacious with a king bed, flat screen television, ample closet space and even a remote control skylight(!). The marble bathroom was also very spacious with a glass enclosed double shower, large sink, bidet and toilet. There were toiletry amenities, oversized towels and a hairdryer as well. On an interesting energy saving "green" note, the room key has a chip which not only opens the door but has to be inserted in a slot once inside the room to allow the A/C and all electrical outlets/lamps to function. To follow on the "green" theme: Though there is maid service twice a day, towels and sheets will only be changed on request.

Great location on a quiet street, nice, efficient staff and luxurious accomodations make for a very enjoyable stay and its deserved high marks from Trip Advisor reviewers. I will definitely return.

On the second leg of our tour of Italy we chose the Golden Tower for our stay in Florence and were so happy that we did. The front desk staff was sweet as we arrived and escorted us to our room which was quite lovely!

On the first night of our stay (Friday) there was some street noise -- mainly singing pedestrians who had a little too much to drink. When we commented on this at the front desk the next morning the staff was eager to not only offer a different room but to take us on a tour of two rooms that were available so we could have our pick. We chose one with a view of the courtyard. The staff moved our bags for us and made sure we were happy with our choice later.
The breakfasts in the restaurant were first rate and delicious. Fresh fruit, awesome pastries and great juices. The coffee was strong and tasty.

As much as we loved the hotel, we loved the location even more! Perfectly situated near the Ponte Vecchio and the Palazzo Vecchio as well as the Duomo. And the shopping nearby rivals any place in the world.

Special thanks to the great staff for making our stay so wonderful!

Honey-Moon trip.
First Impression: Clean and small, meeting our expectations for several hundred euro per night.

When we arrived at 3 pm the room wasn't ready. We had to wait for another 20 minutes, no drinks were offered.

During our first night there was a building site in front of our room. The noise from it went the whole night, we found nearly no sleep. As we asked the service-staff about this building site the next morning they didn't know anything about it and offered to "go out to them and ask how long they will work there". Not accepting this we moved to another "very quiet room" facing the backyard.

We spend two hours packing and un-packing our luggage, no help was offered from the staff. Only the luggage itself was transfered to the new room (after we asked for it).

At the evening of the first day we decided to have dinner in the hotel restaurant. As we arrived 30 minutes after the opening-time not all tables were ready, no other guests were present. The waitress offered us a glass of prosecco and left. After 30 minutes we searched for her and asked for the menue. She was very surprised that we wanted dinner, thinking we only came for the free hapy-hour drink. Only half of the menue was available, the quality not nearly adequat for a five-star hotel.

Inside the new "very quiet" room there were a steady noise comming from the "permanent air" system of the hotel (the pipes for it were leading through the room). This couldn't be switched off by the staff and kept us from sleep the second night. After some ugly discussion with the staff, arguing whether there is a noise or not ("I can't do anything at the moment!") we left the next morning - 4 days earlier than planned.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel.

Dear Tester203,
thank you for posting also a review over the email you sent me. I do not hide that I have been astonished in reading it. It looks another hotel.
We, of course, count on all the reviews, either positive and negative, but we cannot accept "lies" just with the purpose to emphasize the negative review.
However, let me say something:
A) We offer even "complimentary breakfast" if Guests arrive early in the morning so do we with everyone. It comes automatically to us.
B) What happens outside the Hotel is obviously beyond our control. It is unnatural for us to have given the information you mentioned.
C) As for the luggage service, it would have been enough just "ASK"
D) Each evening, as you said, we offer Glass of Prosecco which is very appreciated from all our Guests. If something was partial available on the menu which can happen sometimes, it is because we guarantee very fresh dishes.
E) The second room is the one we usually give 90% of the times to our Guests because it is very very quite. Neverthless, there were any "ugly" discussion with the staff. The lady on duty only suggested to change in another room the day after as we were fully booked.
D) the next morning you decided to leave without giving us any other possibility to help and I decide to waive the payment of one night.
Best Regards,
antonio pellegrino - general manager
