I left my heart in Podere Valdibotte. I will always miss Helena's motherly care and Giancarlo's funny antics. They are truly warm hearted people who enjoy meeting new guests and win them over with laughter. The place has a charming rustic feel that I imagined how a Tuscan Villa would be. They have a big garden of organic vegetables, fruits and berries which they serve at mealtimes. I love the green tomato jelly Helena serves at breakfast. I'm always looking for new recipes and was greatly rewarded during our meals here. My only regret was not spending more time at the B&B. We left every morning to explore Florence, Cinque Terre and Tuscany but I couldn't wait to come back to enjoy the company of our new found family. The location was a bit of a walk from the tram station but they didn't mind picking us up at the station since we didn't rent a car. On our last day, they offered to take us to the train station. They knew we haven't been to the Piazzale Michelangelo so they took us there on they way. We never once felt like just guests to them. To us, they are family. And oh, I love Lampo and Neo, our new furry family.

Room Tip: The air conditioner wasn't working but we didn't need it because it got cool in the evenings...

It is sad to say goodbye to Helena and Giancarlo!! They are wonderful hosts, are both very welcoming and just full of energy and laughter. Helena is a great cook. They have a massive garden where they pick their produce and serve right on the table. They are well-traveled people and are both educated, but do not have the air of arrogance in them.

The bed and breakfast is magnificent. You might want to hire a car as it is 30 minutes away from downtown Florence. However, the view from their house is just fantastic! It is a very laid-back environment, quiet and just refreshing to be at, especially after doing all the touristy stuff.

We were 4 adults and 3 teens and we'd say that this was a highlight of our trip to Italy. On our first night we truly ate "Under the Tuscan Sun". At a round table set for us, the three owners of the B and B, and a French family we had a delicious meal, with wine and great conversation. The B and B is 7 miles outside Florence so maybe not ideal if you plan to spend all your time in Florence (though there is public transportation available and it's easy to navigate). However, if you're doing day trips to other Tuscan cities and want an authentic Tuscan experience stay here. The rooms are very clean and spacious. We stayed in the suite. The bedroom is air-conditioned but the living room isn't. Helene and Giancarlo can share ideas to see the less touristy sites and suggest scenic driving routes. Margarit, their daughter, is a terrific cook. Their three dogs add to the homey feel. Truly a wonderful experience that will add so much to your experience. Treat yourself to a wonderful stay. We were sad to say goodbye and look forward to when we can return.

One of the highlights of our trip to Italy was having dinner with Giancarlo and Helen's family and friends (and pets). It was one of the few times we felt less like tourists and more like we were visiting some friends and family. There was plenty of good food, much of it from their gardens or homemade, and more than enough wine :) We really enjoyed talking to everyone and hearing their thoughts and opinions.

Even though it was an old farmhouse they have added many nice touches to make it a comfortable stay. The room and bathroom are neat and comfortable. We enjoyed wandering around the grounds and looking at the hills in the distance. Also, it made for an excellent base camp to visit Florence via the nearby train.

Podere Valdibotte was a little hard to find, even with our Garmin, but worth it.

We highly recommend staying here.

A very nice and quiet place. A true toscan pearl situated close to the freeway (you can't hear the noise though!) and Firenze. There is approx. 1 mile to public transport facilities that'll take you directly to the centre of Firenze in less than 20 min.

Enjoy yourself in the city and get back to the B&B in the evening or simply just relax all day. Take in the toscan landscape that is surrounding this little farmhouse, while you take a swim in the small pool in the garden.

In summertime the breakfast is served on the terrasse, and the hosts will make sure that you don't miss a thing.

Quiet, clean and nice little spot. A perfect base for discovering the toscany area and in particular Firenze.

We had a wonderful time in B&B Tuscany Podere Valdibotte. An authentic Toscana experience!!. Giancarlo & Helen along with her daughter Margarita are extraordinary hosts. The food is delicious and even organic, all the fruits & veggies come directly from their orchard. The house is set in a beautiful Tuscany landscape, vineyards, cypresses trees, orchards….the home is very cozy and clean. I strongly recommend this B&B

We stayed at Podere Valdibotte (run by Helene and Giancarlo) at the recommendation of a friend, and I must say, it was one of the highlights of my Europe trip!

The drive up to the B&B itself was lovely, and we were met by Margherita (Helene and Giancarlo's daughter). We were immediately struck by how cozy the house was, and how much land they had, filled with all kinds of vegetables and fruits (which we were welcome to explore). Margherita was very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed chatting with her.

We were later met by Helene and Giancarlo, who were just as friendly and welcoming. They were lovely to chat with, and are well-versed in a variety of topics. They were very generous and offered us a variety of drinks; soda, home-brewed wine, beer, along with fresh strawberries, olives, chips, etc.

The other residents of the Podere Validotte were just as welcoming - Neo and Lampo (the Italian truffle dogs) and Miele the fluffly cat. The pets were very friendly with strangers and very calm. Even the cat loved being stroked and massaged. There was also a horse in the stable that you could feed.

The rooms were very comfortable, big, and cosy. The bathrooms were modern and spacious, and the hot water in the shower was wonderfully consistent. There were 2 queen-sized beds in one room (bedroom 1), while the other room had one queen-sized bed and a single (bedroom 2). Bedroom 2 had a family room attached to it and gorgeous views of the hills. Bedroom 1 was bigger and there was a family room just outside of it. The rooms are great for couples and families. Both rooms had attached bathrooms.

We took up the option of having dinner at the house (at 25 euros per person). Helene and Giancarlo cooked up a wonderful meal of tortellini in chicken broth soup, grilled florentine steak and sausage, a side of spinach, and apple strudel for dessert. It was delicious and well worth the money we paid, and a great way to experience the local cuisine.

During dinner, Giancarlo's brother dropped by for a surprise visit and we had very interesting conversations over dinner. It felt just like a dinner party among friends.

The breakfast spread was just as amazing. Helene knew of our fondness for chocolate pastries, and she went out in the morning just to buy an assortment of pastries. In addition, there was a variety of cheese, salami and other meats, cakes, and yoghurt. The coffee was very aromatic and the red orange juice was delicious. Helene also cooked eggs for us in whatever style we wanted.

We spent the late morning getting a tour of the land by Margherita, and she showed us strawberry, arugula, and a wide variety of other plants. We helped her to pick beans for their lunch BBQ (which we were also invited to), while the dogs accompanied us. The lunch was amazing, and we got to meet many of Helene and Giancarlo's friends and neighbours.

The rest of the days flew by very quickly, as we enjoyed the wonderful hospitality, marvelous food, and relaxing atmosphere of Podere Valdibotte. Subsequent dinners and breakfasts were just as amazing. Helene is an excellent cook, and you can taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients she uses. Many of the fruits and vegetables she used in her cooking were from her own garden. Everything was simply delicious.

Podere Valdibotte is located just a few minutes from the train station. From there, it's just a 20-min ride to the town of Florence, where many of the renowned sights are located. Giancarlo offered to drop us off (you can also walk to the station), but you can drive down and park there if you have a car.

In summary, our stay at Podere Valdibotte was nothing short of amazing. Helene and Giancarlo are wonderful hosts and made us feel right at home; like we were part of their family. At no time did we feel like we were just customers. They were genuine in their warmth and always generous. Helene even gifted us something that we obviously enjoyed a lot during our stay. The house is so cosy and comfortable, and we really enjoyed exploring the different types of flora on their land. The pets are so adorable and friendly that we couldn't resist taking a thousand photos of them. And finally, the food was simply marvelous.

If you're looking to experience some wonderful countryside Italian hospitality and way of life, Podere Valdibotte is a must! You will be absolutely spoilt when you're there.
