My wife and adult daughter who lived in Vicenza have stayed here twice. As a travel professional/wholesaler specializing in France only, this hotel had been recommended by one of my travel agent customers in Kansas City. Mariann would have not made a better recommendation....great front desk staff and crispy clean rooms to boot. The breakfast room was airy and offered a wonderful English style buffet...great way to start the day of walking. Our room faced out onto the Piazza Santa Maria Novella- great location for getting out and about for shopping, and food such as Il Latini and Aqua al Due (get the reduced blueberry steak!....really, yeah really...also in their San Diego and Washington, DC locations). Back to hotel...staff parked our car and in a wisk it reappeared without fanfare. The bar and library are relaxing and cordial. A bit on expensive side but really worth it...the house was in great shape!! Hope you enjoy amazingly unique clocks found throughout the hotel- now that's fun!!

This was a real find for us. Recently refurbished in sympathy with the old building, but with state of the art conveniences. Breakfast was included and the breakfast Room was o the 4th floor and more than adequate. Within walking distance of most major attractions and five minutes walk from the railway terminal it was a breeze. We overlooked the Santa Maria Novello Church and square.

Hotels in Florence are expensive. This is an excellent hotel, well located (close to the railway station and a few minutes walk to all the main tourist spots) and with very friendly, helpful staff.
Breakfast was surprisingly generous with quite a few choices and a wonderful view of the city.

Our Superior room was a reasonable size with a practical and elegant marble bathroom. I prefer to have a separate bath and and shower but having said that, the shower in the bath here worked well. Everything was spotlessly clean. The only thing I don't like (I am sitting in the room writing this review) is that the furniture is dark. The room itself is already dark because of the fact that buildings in Florence are very close and there is not much light or privacy with the curtains are open.

There are plenty of power points though it is a nuisance that the power shuts off when you leave the room so don't expect your computer or toothbrush to be charged when you return.
Only the hotel key works in the power saver slot by the door (we tried leaving a plastic card in the power saver but it didn't work!).

We would stay here again without any hesitation.

You can walk from the train station to the hotel it's that close. It's also near a nice plaza. You can walk all day everywhere. There are so many places to eat. Be prepared to eat Italian food only all the time. One thing you should know that caught us by surprise, is if you order a coffee I mean just a coffee no fancy stuff. The cups are smaller and absolutely no refills you must purchase another.

Room Tip: Has no pool and no outdoor space. Also no restaurant but a very nice bar area. Rooms are very quiet...

Dear Guest,
Thank you so much for your kind words.
We are happy that you enjoyed your stay at L'Orologio and that you also experienced our lovely Bar de L'O. We are sorry you didn't notice the Bar had a cosy outdoor space with tables some with the view of the Santa Marian Novella square.
We do sincerely hope to welcome you back to Florence in the future.

While this hotel is high style gorgeous, we had the smallest least comfortable room here that we experienced in several weeks through Italy. I wanted to love this place, but just getting to our room was an ordeal, climbing up to a landing off the elevator, around a sharp corner, then down four stairs to our room, into a dark corridor, with difficult to decipher high tech high touch lighting systems. I could get the fancy art lights on, thankfully, but all else required lots of alternate button pushing to see. We could not open the bathroom door fully because once half open, it hit the toilet. The shower was large and lined with beautiful marble, but neither of us could figure out how to get the water diverted to the rainfall shower head, so basically were left to hose ourselves down with the hand held. Not very satisfying after a long day exploring this beautiful city. The location was undesirable on Piazza Santa Maria Novella, as it was quite a hike to the best museums and cultural sites, and was filled with people just off the train dragging luggage over the cobblestones, plus the tacky t-shirt stands just around the curve on the Piazza detracted from the historic sights. Best part of the location was proximity to Baco Mario, the best restaurant we enjoyed on our trip.

Dear Guest,
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our Hotel L'Orologio. First of all we are very glad that you enjoyed the style of the hotel and our perfect location to visit Florence. We are really sorry instead to learn about yout misfortunes in access to the room, with the lights and the shower. We are sorry especially since this does not correspond to the usual context in which our guests stay. We record on a log book all the guest request during their stay and unfortunetely we have not found none of these issues, which would allow us to take action immediately, check and resolve any problems promptly during your stay. So about the difficult way to the room what we can suppose is an exchange issue in the use of the lift. Actually the hotel is equipped with three lifts, with all three you can get to your room but one gets there more easily than the others according to the specific location of that room. Anyway please, if you have time, contact us by email indicating the period of your stay and the room to figure out what happened with our staff in order to turn your suggestions into an opportunity for a continuous improvement.
We hope that we can look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel in the very near future.
Yours sincerely

Conveniently located to both the train station and major attractions, the Hotel L'Orologio was a great place to stay. The furnishings are contemporary with each floor dedicated to a different watch brand. The breakfast - consisting of fresh fruits, pastry, cereals, meats and cheeses - was served in a lovely, bright room overlooking the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. The staff was extremely helpful. My only complain would be that the lights in the room were very dim. Brighter light bulbs would have been appreciated.
