Amazing room with murals on the ceiling. So much character. Not a hotel but a home. Highly recommended

This place is incredible. Really, truly - from arrival, where we were treated in such a full on manner that we genuinely double checked that they hadn’t mistaken us for celebrity guests. Genuinely. We also had to double check our booking to make sure they hadn’t confused our room, as we were shown to the nicest hotel room I have EVER stayed in…

The superior double, which had a view of the Duomo, boasted a fully stocked kitchenette including a kettle, microwave, cutlery, delf etc. Add to this the dining area, sitting area, pretty plush shower room and a dvd player - and you have quite the home away from home.

The owner, a delightful French lady, presented us with a pice of her own artwork upon our departure. We were invited to have an apertif with them every evening, offered all kinds of activity advice and really made to feel welcome.

Overall we loved our stay here - it is hospitality at it's most exceptional.

Room Tip: Ask for the White Room with a view to the Duomo.

One word for this gem of a location: WOW!

Daniella the owner and Daisy are just delightful people who sincerely care about your experience in Florence. You are within walking distance to every major site and the best shopping as well. Plus D & D can recommend some awesome restaurants so you avoid the tourist traps.

We loved Florence (and not just because we got engaged while we were there) and when we return we will definitely stay at Palazzo Tolomei

Stayed here for 3 nights on our honeymoon in the Aphrodite room. When we arrived the gate was locked and we couldn't get in. Had to call them to get someone to open the gate for us. The rooms for the hotel are up one or more flights, but there is a very small elevator to help with luggage. The ceiling are all painted with frescos and are beautiful, and that's really the experience one wants and gets when staying here. Beyond that the hotel is just so-so.
The room we had was HUGE but sparsely furnished with a very uncomfortable bed (the worse during our 2 week stay in Italy). There is no closet, just a small piece of furniture that that supposidly was to serve as the closet but was pretty inadequate. The safe was in this and was not secured very well, so we didn't feel comfortable using it. The room does have AC, but it never cooled the room.
The bathroom had a tub with a shower, and it was pretty old. There is a balcony but it is so overgrown with plants we couldn't use it, and the view was just OK - rooftops.
Around the corner from the hotel is restaurant Za Za's, which is where the hotel provides breakfast. We were told by guests at the hotel we stayed at in Venice to try Za Za's (it is also written-up in Rick Steve's), and had dinner there every night. It was amazing! The food was excellent, and service was great.
The hotel is in an excellent location for walking to see all the sights, but not walking distrance from the train station.

The place is exactly as depicted on the web site and in trip advisor. (http://www.palazzotolomei.it/) Its very nice -- in fact eerily nice -- you dont expect to spend the night in a palazzo that is museum quality. In fact between the the life sized 17 century marble statues and elaborate frescos that adorned the Palazzo, you felt a little strange when they give you the key and say, here is how you lock up at night. Your immediate reaction is, wait dont leave me here alone! It's like the movie "Night at the Museum" or being asked to lock up at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Everything in the pictures on the web site is exactly as it is. The rooms and spaces are that large.

Seriously, the place was beautiful and spacious, the air conditioning worked fine and bathrooms were great. The place is centrally located in the heart of Florence. Fabulous pizza place across the street. (see picture).

Daniella is the owner and she was fabulously accommodating. She is a real life Contessa and has opened up one of her Palazzo's in Florence (that's right ONE of her Palazzo's) because its evident that she thoroughly enjoys being with people and wants to share her art treasures with them. Daniella arranges for you to have breakfast at a neat outdoor cafe around the corner named Za Za. Daniella seems to be known by everyone in Florence. She can recommend where to eat, how to get in and out of the museums, what to do etc. She was fantastic.

What a beautiful residence! Steps from the San Lorenzo market and the duomo. We stayed here for 3 nights in the 'white room'. Daniela is a lovely hostess. Sparkling clean, comfy beds and a great shower, not to mention all of the little treats included in the kitchenette. My sweetheart propsed to me while we were in Florence - Daniela gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate. No detail was left to chance. We are going to stay here again in September 2011 while on our honeymoon. Daniela even remembered who we were!

The place is wonderful and our room was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. Daniela, the owner, is very nice and it was a pleasure to be her guest. We hope we will be able to come back in the future!
