“PERFECT LOCATION, BEAUTIFUL PALAZZO, PERFECT HOSTESS”
Reviewed 28 June 2012

I recently had a six day stay at this stunningly beautiful Palazzo. It's central location could not be any better, as once outside the gates you are 3 minutes walk to the Academia and "David" and are right in the centre of everything, shops, restaurants, museums are all within very easy walking distance. The bedrooms and general sitting areas are nothing less than exquisite - it takes your breath away. The included breakfast at Za Za's just around the corner was lovely. Daniela was the perfect hostess, a lovely, warm, kind and generous lady - she exudes good taste. I cannot fault this Palazzo and have brought home wonderful memories of a great holiday in Florence and a faultless experience at the Palazzo Tolomei. Thank you again Daniela.

Room Tip: Every room is exquisite

It is really the magnetism of the owner, Daniela Agnelli, that drives this gem of a palazzo. Her warmth and caring make each visitor feel special . The small gestures are what one appreciates the most1 Don't expect much 'service', as it is a Bed and Breakfast place. But the fabulous location makes up for other shortcomings. Daniela offered us a boat ride down the river to watch the sunset... it was pure magic. Every restaurant tip of hers was genuinely useful. She has impeccable taste and her shopping advice is invaluable. All in all, a superior, even superlative and unique experience. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We loved our White Room the most. And the details on the dining table.

We enjoyed our stay at palazzo tolomei. Be aware that you wont be staying in a hotel so you need to have a different perspective. We had a huge room with great tall ceilings with frescoes. The building is 300 years old so you have to keep this in mind when it comes to some things. I would classify it as "upscale shabby-chic". The breakfast at the restaurant a couple of blocks away was nice and we enjoyed getting out into the city early when it was peaceful and quite. If your looking for something different we would recommend palazzo tolomei.

We spent 3 nights at the Palazzo, upgraded from "superior" to "wedding suite". We were greeted and hosted by owner Sra Daniela Agnelli, with whose charming and skilled assistance we made the most of our Florence stay. Palazzo Tolomei is not really a hotel; it really lives up to the designation, given as recognition, "Residenza d'Epoca". Our room - enormous, with 18 ft frescoed ceilings and a fabulous marble bathroom - opened onto a huge salon which we were invited to use as our own. The sense of hospitality was complete and we felt right at home. This is Sra Daniela's ancestral home and she is happy to talk about the history and artistic origins of the building and its rooms. True, as some reviewers have noted, this is not the kind of hotel with a front desk and a bellman - it is more in the tradition of the small pension, where you have your own key to the door opening onto a narrow street, but, after all, this is central Florence, and it fits right in. Five minutes after walking out that front door we were face to face with the Cathedral. Breakfast, included in our room fee, was provided at a nearby "osteria" and was traditional and appropriate. We plan to always stay at the Palazzo any time we are visiting Florence.

This place is incredible. Really, truly - from arrival, where we were treated in such a full on manner that we genuinely double checked that they hadn’t mistaken us for celebrity guests. Genuinely. We also had to double check our booking to make sure they hadn’t confused our room, as we were shown to the nicest hotel room I have EVER stayed in…

The superior double, which had a view of the Duomo, boasted a fully stocked kitchenette including a kettle, microwave, cutlery, delf etc. Add to this the dining area, sitting area, pretty plush shower room and a dvd player - and you have quite the home away from home.

The owner, a delightful French lady, presented us with a pice of her own artwork upon our departure. We were invited to have an apertif with them every evening, offered all kinds of activity advice and really made to feel welcome.

Overall we loved our stay here - it is hospitality at it's most exceptional.

Room Tip: Ask for the White Room with a view to the Duomo.

One word for this gem of a location: WOW!

Daniella the owner and Daisy are just delightful people who sincerely care about your experience in Florence. You are within walking distance to every major site and the best shopping as well. Plus D & D can recommend some awesome restaurants so you avoid the tourist traps.

We loved Florence (and not just because we got engaged while we were there) and when we return we will definitely stay at Palazzo Tolomei
