“A Florentine Fairytale!”
Reviewed 24 September 2013

Arriving at the 'Palace' was like stepping into the beautiful home of a very dear friend, Daniela and Daisy have this wonderfully natural manner, allowing you to feel totally pampered and special, as though you are the only guest.
If you don't stay with Daniela, you are missing an absolutely wonderful, unique experience.
The interior of the building was simple, grand, yet stunning and very tastefully decorated, a serene and spacious place to stay, and perfect to come back to after a day of sightseeing in Florence.
Being very central to Florence was a distinct advantage, easy access to all of the museums, galleries etc.
The 'office' doubles up as a 'refreshments area', sumptuous purple sofas, white leather sofas, an amazingly high ceiling painting with a stunning fresco. This room was a social area, always topped up with tea/coffee and local Florentine delights, the fig cake was divine!
Tea/coffee facilities also conveniently available in the room itself.
Towels beautiful and fluffy, changed daily, large and very efficient shower, despite the age of the building.
A short walk for breakfast at ZaZa's, great choice of food, served promptly by very friendly staff, loved the marmalade!
Daniela suggested a restaurant called Cipolla Rosa for our last night, it has to be the best freshly cooked pasta I have ever tasted, prices were very reasonable, I would definitely recommend this place.
I do suggest that if you are staying 3 days or more, you do consider the 70 Euro ticket for entry into museums etc, we decided against it and actually soon clocked up a little more than this in the end. It is obtained from the tourist office, a short walk from the hotel.

Just a word of warning about arriving in Florence, keep your money safe, carry it in front of you at all times, sadly I was victim of a pickpocket, stupidly using a rucksack.- Absolutely no reflection on this hotel, just typical of cities all around the world, and I have to say, Daniela was deeply sympathetic over my plight, directing me to the local police station and checking if I needed any money.

I can honestly say, if I return to Florence, I would not dream of staying anywhere else, why would I? I am also considering bringing my mum over next year for her 70th birthday.
Thank you Daniela and Daisy

What can I say about Palazzo Tolomei that hasn’t been said yet... In one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, the city that gave birth to the first Renaissance and where the amount of masterpieces per square metre can only be overcome by the amount of tourists per square metre, you actually don’t feel like leaving your hotel room because it is so breathtakingly beautiful only Palazzo Pitti can compete with it (and you can’t stay at Pitti of course). We stayed for 3 nights for my birthday and I couldn’t wish for a better treat: Palazzo Tolomei, without a shadow of doubt, is the most beautiful and welcoming place I have ever stayed at (and I travelled the world and had the privilege of staying in many amazing 5 star places for both work and fun). The attention to detail, the faultless taste in decoration, all comforts taken care of, even the tiniest ones (the place is run by women and it shows), the genuine warmth and hospitality of Daniela and Daisy, all that on top of central location, amazing historical building with fresco ceilings (we stayed in the Baldacchino room) makes this place a true gem. I’ve been to Florence many times and thought I was done with it for next few years but now I feel like I have to go back asap just to stay at Tolomei again!
Some practical tips: Il Gelato che non c’era on the Ginori street, 21, doesn’t look as attractive as endless ice cream places exploding all over main streets but it’s actually one of the best gelaterias in Florence. Zaza cafe and osteria where the breakfast is served is actually a great place for lunch or dinner as well: the food is fantastic, authentic and great value, don’t get tempted by expensive touristic places on piazza Republica and the alike. Take a walk to piazza Signoria in the evening – it’s magical in the moon light and free of the tourist crowds by that time.

The hospitality at this hotel is amazing. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like Kings! Daisy waived us over from the hotel window when we got a little lost, then greeted us and made sure we were completely happy and taken care of (she had our car parked, gave us some coffee, made sure we had dinner reservations, gave us maps of Florence, etc.). She's so wonderful!

The hotel is full of large, lofty spaces, fresco-covered ceilings, and funky, mod furnishings. Our room was beautiful and well-appointed, with a kitchenette (complete with n'espresso machine and pods) and white modern furniture and comfy bed.

We were blocks from all the best sites (go see the statue garden!) and restaurants so we were able to fit a ton of stuff into our one-day itinerary.

The next morning, Daniela (the owner) gave us delicious pastries, made us coffee, and gifted us the bottle of wine we opened from our room (a terrific chianti). She then gave us a beautiful watercolor and acrylic painting to keep - it was gorgeous and she painted it herself! What a wonderful host. We definitely recommend this hotel. We'll be back!

Our family was in Italy 7 times, in Florence 3 times, Palazzo Tolomei is the best place we ever stay !
Everything was perfect, the service fantastic, very friendly, we all feel like at home, we get everything we need, but more.
The place of Palazzo very central, 5 min. to Domo and 3 min to central market, 10 min. to central station by foot.
In the morning very nice beakfast in the caffe nearby.
The Palazzo is gorgeous, sculptures, frescoes and other, so you dont need to go to the museum, you already live there :) Rooms very clean, nice design, we get much better apartment, than we have booked, it was great surprise, to have 2 bedroom apartments with dining room, small kitchan and big terrace with incredible view of Florece!
But the best in Tolomei is owner- Daniela, so nice, full of light and love to the people person :)
We definatly will stay here in our next trips to this unique city in this unique place.

Palazzo Tolomei is the best hotel I have stayed in while in Europe. I have spent four months here over the last two years and this place is the best value one can find. The hostess Daniella is so gracious that you can't help but feel at home and her staff are amazing. The hotel is a 15th century palace and the rooms are huge....massive...especially by European standards. The clear view of the Duomo from our room was magical. There is wifi right in the room (read: the strongest possible signal), the beds are big and comfy, the bathrooms are spacious and clean, the common areas in the hotel are stocked with wine, juice, water and snacks all day. The location is two blocks from the epicenter of Florence - the Duomo and Accademia (where the statue of David residers) are within 3 minutes walking, the train station is 8 minutes and the Ponte Vecchio is 12 minutes. I loved this hotel and can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a view of the Duomo which a a real bonus....perhaps you can ask about availability w...

The hospitality is excellent and very friendly .The welcome was surprising good from Daniella our new Italian friend! We stained there for 3 nights for our honeymoon , and we will definitely go for our first anniversary . The Palazzo is at the center of Florence , We thought we saw Leonardo da Vinci painting Mona Liza in our bathroom! Rooms are great and roofs are greater. The wooden roof seems to be there for ages but the atmosphere is fresh and clean. It seems like we went a trip into the past.

The most extraordinary place I've ever stayed; luxury, stylish with extremely friendly and personal service. The owner Daniela is a fantastic personality who makes the clients really feel welcome. The rest of the staff was also very professional and friendly. The suite had everything you can wish and the room was very spacy. The overall interior decoration was a fabulous mixture of antique and modern design, only Italians can this. The breakfast was arranged in a nice cozy restaurant just around the corner and was very good compared to the normal Italian standard.
