“Very good price/value ratio”
Reviewed 24 September 2013

I stayed in a lovely single room. It was exceptionally clean and in my room I had all these little things one could wish for to feel oneself comfortably - kettle, drinking water, reading lamp, dressing gown (toilet and shower situate in a corridor and is shared but thanks to this gown it's not a problem using it even in the night), enough hangers, switches close to bed so you don't have to go out of the bed to turn off the light, bedside space to put your book and mobile, etc. Breakfast was really something to wait for in the mornings with fresh and very good cappuccino and cake slices (things I enjoyed the most). Bed mattress and pillows are comfortable enough, and it's quiet during the night so you can sleep your window open. And there was more - little things which made you feel cared for and important for the hosts - I don't reveal it all so you could have some surprises as I had during my stay.

Room Tip: I did not see the other rooms in this B&B so I can't give much help for your choosing proces...

Dear Guest
we are very pleased that his stay at the Palagetto was perfect!
we put all our efforts to make the rooms more comfortable and cozy. The kettle and selection of teas and infusions is a small plus we provide free of charge to our guests, because you really feel like at home!
All the best

I also booked Il Palagetto because of its great reviews and I was not disappointed. Tiziana and Ruggero were great hosts and did everything possible to make my stay a pleasant one. The house is beautifully decorated with personal touches that make it a' home from home'. There is a lovely lounge area where you could sit, relax, read or admire the views of Florence. It is situated in a quiet residential area over the river with plenty of bars and restaurants near by and a 20 minute leisurely walk to the historic centre. It is a lovely relaxing place to stay and I look forward to staying there again on my next trip to Florence.

Booked this B&B based on the positive reviews here in TP and glad we did! We (myself+wife+infant) enjoyed our stay in this lovely and cozy guest house. The owners, Tiziana and Ruggero, are both kind and hospitable in the true sense of the words. Tiziana even offered to pick us up in the train station (well, with an infant, logistics bit challenging). She attends to her guests' needs whenever she could - itinerary, museum reservations, bus tickets, and even our laundry! Rooms look exactly as they are in their website - what you see, what you get (well appointed) Located couple of meters from main street, up and down walk was enjoyable (good for your health too!). Situated on other side of river (out of the touristy area), which was a plus. City center just 5-8 mins by bus or 10-15 min by leisure walk. Many thanks Tiziana and Ruggero! Will stay here again for sure. Best regards , Ernie/Les/baby Una (Philippines)

Situated just outside the bustling city centre, the traditional, clean and pretty guest house offered my partner and I a rustic and authentic Florentine experience.

Hosts Tiziana and Rugero can provide in-depth information - and even book on your behalf - for attractions in central Florence. But we often just enjoyed exploring the nearby parks, beautiful streets, piazzas, hidden bars and authentic (considerably cheaper) restaurants in the area surrounding the B&B.

When we did fancy the city centre, though, we always walked the 10-15 minutes there - certainly no need for bus/ taxi. The Florentine streets are an experience in themselves!

Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Delightful and diverse continental breakfast that catered for my vegetarian partner extremely well. Couldn't ask for more.

Hope to stay again soon.

Dan and Georgia.

Recently our family of four stayed at Il Palagetto B&B. Both Tiziana and Rugero were extremely professional and friendly, and very helpful. The room and beds were comfortable, the kids bed was a pull-out sofa but it had quite a bit of space and good mattress. The bathroom was clean and nice. The breakfast was varied and plentiful, Rugero made us cappucinos and fruit salad every morning, in addition to a spread served on the buffet table - pastries, cold cuts, juice, coffee and tea, cereal, plain and fruit yogurt (full fat and low fat)... Best breakfasts we had on this entire trip through Italy! A/C was great help in the hot summer nights.

We booked accommodation right on their web site and Tiziana was available to answer any of our questions and book tours and museum visits for us! Our room was Gingko, it sleeps four and has an en-suite bathroom. Everything was impeccably clean and ready for us. There is a small fridge in the room, A/C and TV. Rugero welcomed us and was ready with maps, recommendations and a whole library of books about Florence and Tuscany. He also explained the bus system in Florence and we used it extensively.

We arrived in Florence by car but parked it in Rugero's private parking for about 24E/day.
Florence has a restricted driving zone that is quite large and penalties are steep if you enter it (100E). This zone is in central Florence but the B&B is just outside the zone, so this was very helpful.

There is free parking available right on the street outside B&B but we saw broken glass from car break-ins in at least three spots so we decided not to risk it... Although the B&B is about 20 minute walk from downtown (it is in a quiet residential area) those 20 minutes can feel quite long in mid-day heat and with kids. Single bus ticket is 1.2E - apparently there are family day passes but we were not able to buy them anywhere - not at bus stops nor the train station....

We had a great time and great stay at this B&B. We would recommend it to anyone, although just keep in mind that it may not necessarily be walking distance to attractions...

Room Tip: The 4-person room as its own bathroom, two person rooms have shared bathrroms...

Dear Nina
thank you for your kind review, I'm very happy you enjoyed your stay at Il Palagetto GH !
There is only 2 little mistakes in your review:
1) car parking in our private space costs 18 euro per day (you indicated 24 euro ... maybe you calculated as parking fee also the city tax !); anyway our parking is very cheaper in comparison to the road in the blue stripes (min. 1,50 euro per hour) and it is very safe (closed by gate) !
2) car parking is not allowed in our street, so maybe you're referring to the other streets of the city .
We hope to see you again in the future to enjoy again our fantastic city
All the best

We spent 3 nights in this Guest House, and we loved very much our stay there !
The area is close to the main attractions, but in very quiet corner of the city (there is a big park in the nearby). Ruggero gave us a lot of suggestions about restaurants, thing to do, places to visit: he was so kind with us and he prepared all the mornings a very nice breakfast with fresh fruit salat, cakes, cheese, eggs & the best "cappuccino" of our holiday ! Thank you very much !

Room Tip: We love our Gingko family room

Far from the city centre - 20min walk but big rooms and very friendly staff with a great breakfast served with cold cuts and cheese! The only thing we were u aware of was that there was a shared washroom whcih was not so bad since there are only 2 rooms on the main floor we stayed in. Other than that great value and good beds for a solid nights rest.

Dear Guest
thank you for your kind review !
Our Guest House is at only few minutes from the ancient "Porta San Frediano" from where you can enter in the city center. You can easily arrive in less than 10 min. to the Old Bridge ("Ponte Vecchio") if you resist temptation to do shopping in many typical artisan shops you can find in this area !!
