“Lovely country retreat”
Reviewed 15 May 2013

Although only 10 minutes drive from Florence's Duomo, A Casa di Olivo is a perfect oasis of quiet and tranquility. Laura and Mauro gave us free rein of their property; the view from the top of the olive orchard is spectacular, and one you couldn't find anywhere else. Our party of 7 took up all 3 rooms, so we felt as though we had our own estate; after long days sightseeing in Florence, it was a joy to relax in the comfort of the roomy living and dining rooms. We even cooked dinner one night as a welcome respite from all the huge restaurant meals. Laura provided delicious breads for breakfast; we were never able to come close to eating everything she offered. The rooms were clean and spacious, the beds comfortable, and our hosts delightful.

Room Tip: All 3 rooms are lovely; the triple room is up a fairly steep staircase.

We loved staying at the Casa di Olivo. The owers have an olive grove and press their own olive oil. We saw their tools in the cellar of the house. They were so nice and have a wonderful bed and breakfast. They had breakfast for us early because we needed to check out early, gave us directions, and even gave us an unused bus pass someone had left behind. It was a beautiful and relaxing place to stay.

I highly recommend this bed and breakfast!

Laura & Mauro were lovely- and they're dog Rocco was too!

The house was great and the room, spacious and clean.

Although the property was close to the train with some noise, it was quiet throughout the night.

Laura ensured we were comfy & was a delight to deal with

Tripadvisor reviews never lie... We had an excellent stay at A casa di Olivo.
The room was quiet and had a tv, clean bathroom and airco.
The only thing we missed is a bit of cheese at the breakfast, otherwise all was fine and sufficient.
Laura and Mauro are both helpful people and they have a lovely dog named Rocco.
The olive-yard around the house is very beautiful.

It is true that A casa di Olivo is certainly outside the old city center but we didn't mind since we had our own bikes so we went to the city center by bike (which is about 7 km). Make sure to use the bike lane next to the river Arno when you would do the same cause the traffic in Florence is hectic. You feel like risking your life at some points.

Laura does not live in the B&B (she lives just a few houses further) so you might have to call her first upon check-in.

Our family (parents and 3 children) had a wonderful stay at the Casa di Olivio for 3 nights in August. It is a great value for the money. The rooms and bathrooms in this beautiful stone house are modern, clean and big. Since the house is just outside the city, the surroundings are calm are quiet - it feels like you're staying in the countryside when you're only 10 minutes from Florence. Laura and Mauro were wonderful hosts and gave us good advice on how to access the city, what to see and where to eat. We would definitely stay here again!!

We recently traveled through Italy by car and spent one night at this lovely bed and breakfast in the hills above Florence. It is only some minutes’ drive to town and all the sights Florence has to offer. It is up a private narrow road and next door to a castle complete with its own olive grove high on a hill with great views of Florence below and the country side all around. It is a lovely country rustic setting. The innkeepers are very friendly and helpful, speak fairly good English, and prepare a good breakfast with lots of home grown fruits and pastries and wonderful Italian breads and meats. Our only problem was that we only scheduled one night here as it would be an excellent place to rest and relax with excursions in to Florence and villages in Tuscany. The rooms were comfortable and had good air conditioning and pleasant common areas inside and out. I hope we will be able to visit here again and highly recommend this place to stay. www.acasadiolivo.com
