Our trip to Florence was decided on a quite Sunday afternoon and we left a week later. When looking for a place to stay I did not want a large modern hotel. What I got was perfect. Being on the outskirts of Florence provided the quiet and the care we were looking for. The view from the dining room and patio showed a calm pastoral scene with a fast river, people walking with their dogs and in the mornings the fishermen would settle in to do some fishing.
The staff was amazing. Emilo in the bar told us amazing stories about the 1966 flood, the affect of the economy after 9/11, and the history of the area all while preparing us amazing drinks. Breakfast each day was varied and provided what we needed to eat until we returned in the evening to visit the fine restaurant where the chef prepared typical Tuscan food-- fresh, flavorful and accompanied by a wonderful wine selection. Having free wi-fi helped us stay in touch with our families and friends. The shuttle provided took us back and forth to Florence through the maze of traffic and stone walls. It was always on time and even picked us up when we showed up early after a full day of visiting the art, history, and shopping that is Florence.
