Owner description: There is plenty of sun, shade, singing birds and whispering fountains in one of Florence's largest and most beautiful gardens, which are located behind the massive Pitti Palace.

Very large formal gardens which are worth the visit for the stunning views of Florence. Not much signage in English which makes it difficult to determine who or what some of the sculptures and fountains are all about. Focus of the garden is the formal layout and trees rather than flowers. Would have been nice to have been able to purchase a ice cream or drink while walking around. You will need a good 2 hours to visit the entire garden.

After seeing the gardens at Versailles, the Tuileries, Central Park, and even the garden in my back yard, this was a major disappointment. The "gardens" were horribly maintained. None of the fountains were working, there were vines growing in all of them, and the water was green. The fields were patchy and there was <50% grass. The shrubs were not cut, destroyed in places, and there was no signage. We actually asked for our money back, but were denied. Don't waste your time!

Fantastic for a slow wander in the greenery when the crowds and museums have become tiresome. Take your camera and enjoy the tranquility.

We took an afternoon to tour the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens. We were so disappointed with the gardens. It was all trees and shrubs, no flowers to be seen. Some of the fountains were not running either. There are a ton of steps too. If you really want to visit I recommend taking the bus that drops you off up at the top of the gardens. No place for someone who cannot climb.

Some stunning sights from the higher levels but it's very hard on the knees. Not any good for anyone with knee problems. The grotto was gd but it's a shame you cannot access it, just look at it through the bars.
