“Second to none”

Nowhere in the world I we ever experienced service quite like this. Nothing was too much trouble for the superb staff of this hotel. One of our party was taken ill and had to spend time in hospital, we were supplied with fruit and flowers to take to the hospital, as well as provided with a car to take us there and back. When he was well enough to return to the hotel, the staff had rearranged his room for his maximum comfort. We cannot recommend this hotel, and its staff highly enough and would like to thank Gaetano Torino for all of his help during our stay. If you are planning to holiday in Italy, make sure you stay here! Thank you

We were 1 night, before the trip to lake Milan. Hotel is nice, but one small detail could disappoint everything! In this case valet parking!!!! Very old grandfather in charge in this process, defiantly he douse not remember his own name. So when we arrive at 20:00, get the room, put a luggage and at 20:20 we were back at main entrance - he gave a key from another car... After we explain that Audi a3 and q7 it's a different models, we wait 35 minutes more!!!! About rooms - I like the old-fashion furniture, but here we see it not like in Ritz or Four seasons. So I advice you to pay little bit more, but stay in another 5 star hotel.

This is a beautiful 18 century property with nice views of the city. We stayed on the 5th floor and had a big private balcony. The staff was friendly and exceptional. The hotel have courtesy shuttle that will take you anywhere. However, breakfast and overall food at the restaurant leave much to be desired. Italian food is wonderful and I wish they had a chef, who would make it memorable. The concierge recommended couple good spots to eat and sight see. If you are around Duomo, there is a place called Yellow - wonderful local food, check it out! Also, we hired a private guide to tour the city and she was wonderful. Her name was Jessica. We'd highly recommend her. There are lines to get into the museums so you'll need to make reservations ahead of time! The staff can help with that.

A historic hotel in a the historic Florence city.
This hotel was one of the houses of the rich Medici family in the past, now renovated as a 5* hotel, a mixture of modern and old-style furniture.
The location is ok, its not near the city center but its not a long walk to there because the Florence itself is not a very big city. You can go directly towards the Arno rive and walk along it and after 15mijbwalk you can reach the city center and the beautiful Ponte Vecchio bridge.
The staff of the hotel are very nice and helpful and wore very stylish clothes. Always smile and so humble.
The breakfast is on the ground floor face to a nice old garden, wide choices of food and bottles of Champaign included!!!
You have access to WiFi in all the hotel. Just you need to ask the concierge for the Code.
Hotel is not very high. It just has 5floors but each floor expand very long in two wings with two separate elevators.
The rooms are very old-style but at the same time stylish and the amenities if the rooms were modern. Very nice pleasant. Some rooms face to the garden which is very nice and some to the old paved street. Both types are ok.
There are no cards to open the room doors, just Keys and this makes the hotel more interesting.
There is no tea-coffee maker in the rooms.
The hotel is registered as one of the Leading Hotels of the World in the LHW book.

We just came back from a great stay at the Grand Hotel Villa Medici. The Hotel is well located just off the Arno and within easy walking distance of everything Florence has to offer- the Uffici, the great shopping, the leather marketplace and wonderful restaurants. The hotel staff is super friendly and very, very helpful. The concierge took care of all of our reservations for the museums and restaurants with no hassle. Amazing to just tell them the time we wanted to visit a museum and our reservation was made, the fee paid and our pass ready for us. Very family friendly. One complaint is that the WiFi is very slow, expensive and frequently failed. In this day and age, you've got to offer WiFi for free or a low charge and it has to be robust. This was my one major CON for the Grand Hotel.

Room Tip: All of the rooms have windows that open and give great air flow.

I'm very surprised to read some of the negative reviews. I frequently travel and stay at fine hotels and really enjoyed this hotel. The rooms are very spacious and clean. My room had a balcony overlooking the pool and it was beautiful. One reviewer mentioned a barking dog, and yes I heard the dog a few times but it is really not an issue. I am a VERY light sleeper and any noise wakes me up, and it was very quiet at night. The service was wonderful and the restaurant downstairs was delicious. It is expensive but has the most delicious vegetable soup and burrata cheese appetizers. Breakfast was included with my room and it was good. Some people mentioned that there was canned fruit. There is some canned fruit but there is also fresh fruit every morning along with a selection of cheese, lox, cold cuts, breads, yogurts, and fresh juices. They also had soy milk available by request, which is always a nice plus. The hotel also offers a complimentary curtesy van that will take you wherever you would like. This was a wonderful plus. My only complain is that the rooms do not have irons in them. The hotel said they are a fire hazard, but they have someone who will iron any of your clothes. I had 4 items ironed and it cost 20 euros! Just be aware of this! Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

The staff is hospitable, but bring ear plugs because there is the loudest barking dog across the street. People that walk by taunt the dog at all hours! Breakfast is WAY overpriced, with canned fruit and stale bread and pastries.
