My wife & I stayed here for three nights, attracted by the positive reviews. The hotel proved to be a real find. This old monastery was a unique place to stay and was a pleasant change to standard chain hotels. Our room was basic, but spacious, quiet and comfortable and had a good view of the dome of the duomo. Breakfast was a good quality continental buffet and the staff were friendly, approachable and helpful. Within a few minutes walk of the main attractions and a 5-10 minute taxi ride from the main train stations, the central location in a quiet square couldn't be better. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Book early for best deals and room choice.

We stayed here with another couple in late May and loved it. I can understand that some people might be a little disappointed but could avoid this if they read some of the reviews. This is not a chain hotel with power showers and standardised rooms, it is a monastery and seems relatively unspoiled. I agree that there are some minor inconveniences, our bathroom was a little cramped but this would be expected. I would not want walls knocked down which would detract from the architecture. It was a beautiful building and the staff were welcoming. It was a very short walk into the centre of Florence and the restaurant around the corner was highly recommended and appreciated.

You could not be closer to the Galleria dei Academia, yet this hotel is on a very quiet square. Our room had a gorgeous view of the Duomo and the back of the Academy. Red tile floors, a sunlight in the bathroom that we could hear the bells toll through.

The breakfast staff was courtesy and quick. The Croissants were fresh and warm and the latte's and espresso were very good. The architecture is old and beautiful. Walking the stone staircase down to breakfast was a treat.

This is an excellent romantic spot.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor and had a beautiful view.

Stayed 2 nights at the hotel. Mixed reviews-
Pros:
Well located in the heart of the historic centre
Since this was an old monastery, the rooms and bathrooms are very spacious

Cons:
We had booked a Superior room and were initially given a room (i think it was #28), which clearly had not been occupied much before....the water from the taps were muddy and aircon was not working properly and all this in probably the hottest period in Italy...our request for a room change didnt happen because they informed that the hotel was completely booked. Next day however we shifted to the annexe building where thankfully the aircon was working properly.

For those with limited mobility, there is a lot of staircase climbing even though they have an old small hydraulic lift since not all rooms are close to the elevator...(architectural issue)

One of the ladies at the front desk was a bit curt (bordering on rudeness) although she was helpful in general.

Conclusion: set your expectations right about this hotel and always check the room before you occupy it because this is a very old building and there is bound to be some deficiencies lurking somewhere...i do recall a few other reviewers mentioning the same thing about checking rooms

Room Tip: 1.Check rooms before occupying 2. Senior citizens and those with limited mobility should enquire ab...

All the glowing reviews written here I personally experienced when my family and I stayed in this historic hotel this summer. Originally a monastery built in the 1500s, the hotel had a quaint old-world charm. The reception area and bar was a comfortable place to rest, organize and prepare for the day's activities or just to have a drink while reading. We booked the superior double room which was very spacious, adorned with antique furniture. The room was clean with lots of windows that open. Our room (no. 30) had a beautiful view of Il Duomo and I made a point to admire and savour the magnificent view at sunrise and at night before going to bed. Wireless internet was good and reliable. Aircon was ok considering we were in the hottest time of the year. The bathroom looked newly renovated and everything (water pressure, temperature, drainage) worked well. The bath essentials, I learned, are the hotel owners' own products made of olive oil. They smell so good and loved using them.

Location is perfect. It is close to (meaning walking distance) to most of the attractions (10 min. walk to the Duomo, 15 minutes to the market, piazza Signoria, 5 min. to Accademia, 3 min. walk to Leonado da Vinci Museum, 20 min. walk to Ponte Vecchio etc.) plus on Via Servi there's a grocery store, laundromat, one of the best gelaterias (Mordilatte), a good quality souvenir store and a toy store, and THE best pasticceria in Florence, Robiglio (you must eat here and buy biscotti and panforte to bring back home), 5 min. to Sn. Marco bus station. 20 minutes walk to the main train station (Sta. Maria Novella). In the 5 days we were there, we only took public transportation once to go up to piazalle Michaelangelo. You are right in the heart of Florence yet it's peaceful and quiet and we slept very well during our stay.

Breakfast was plentiful. Good presentation and ambiance. Aside from the usual fare, there's fresh fruits. (Not all hotels have them.) Also, BEST cappuccino! The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The restaurants they recommended were all superb! I can see that they really try to make our stay pleasant and memorable. This is the first time I followed Rick Steves' hotel recommendation and I'm SO glad we stayed here.

Hotel Loggiato dei Serviti is located on a small piazza, very close to Firenze Duomo. On the night we arrived to the hotel (by taxi from airport with fixed rate 25 EUR), there was open-air movie night in front of the hotel. The entrance of the hotel doesn’t look like traditional entrances, so it was very-very special – dark night with few lights on, small piazza and movie night… As it takes few steps up from piazza to hotel, this place is most probably not suitable for wheelchairs and people with very heavy luggage. Our room was spacious and looked exactly like on pictures. As it is very old house, all hallways are very narrow and elevator is the tiniest I have seen. I loved the view from the window – looking over the roofs and backyard. In room there was enough space for everything. Air-conditioning kept temperature under control (outdoor was constantly around +36 degrees Celsius) and as there was absolute quietness, I slept very well. The bed is a bit stiff, but I can’t complain. Wi-Fi was free of charge for us and worked smoothly. TV had only couple of english channels, but who cares when you are in Italy.
Bathroom, compared to room, was quite small, but had everything needed (shower, not bath), incl excellent olive oil based bath gel and shampoo. Room has also minibar which enables to keep bottles of water cold. No coffee or tea making facilities in room. Breakfast was quite typical for Italian hotels – bread, ham and cheese slices, boiled eggs, fruits, yoghurt and cereals. Caffe Americano was strange, but cappuccino was perfect.
All in all – definitely would return. It was wonderful time in Firenze and the hotel was exactly what I wished for. Authentic Italian house where you can feel the spirit of history. Plus great location and view from the windows. Definitely one of the pearls in my hotel collection…
Final remark – while booking, I used TripAdvisor special offer for that hotel: free wi-fi and room upgrade incl free breakfast. That was exactly what we got and I must say – it was good value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for upper floor, facing backyard - quiet and nice view

I am Italian but want to review in English to reach more people. Hotel in the heath of Florence, wonderful historical building, very friendly and helpful staff. Stayed in their best room n. 39. Once entered the room the word was WOW! Fantastic view with a small terrace overlooking the Duomo and all old Florence roof tiles. You will enjoy 100% this hotel if you are a person that loves historical buildings in a true natural and original setting, historical wooden floors, original "cotto di Firenze" tiles and exquistite furniture. If you love super modern technological gadgets then this hotel is not for you, on the contrary if you want to understand and breath history then this is the place, which has of course all you need also in modern life (a/c, elevator etc..). European breakfast full of choice, will certainly be back. One request to the staff: please feed the flowers in the terrace, well kept flowers give a plus to the view. Arrivederci a presto.

Room Tip: Ask for room 39, the best one, very very romantic.
