“A LITTLE GEM IN FLORENCE - NOT TO BE MISSED”
Reviewed 4 December 2011

I visited Casa Martelli yesterday and loved it! It's a fascinating insight into noble life at the time of the Medicis and as well as a fabulous collection of art, it was a treat to see how rooms were decorated in the 18th & 19th centuries. The ceiling frescoes were particularly interesting and beautiful. I loved the summer bathing room in a sylvan setting all imaginatively created by frescoes. Our guide was Alessandro and his tour of the house, given in English, was very interesting and entertaining. This is certainly not to be missed if you find yourself in Florence!

“Best experience for Art and History lovers, great staff”
Reviewed 19 October 2011

For History lovers, great tour inside a well-preserved Florentine noble home, once belonged to the Martelli family, close friends to the Medicis.18th C. decor, big art collection (works from Renaissance to Napoleon's age). Not just a museum, but a real house where people have lived. Congratulations to the wonderful staff, gentle and well informed, in particular Johanna and Alexandro. The only museum in Florence with tours in English, costs just 3 Euro. A few steps from the Cathedral. Tip: open thursday pm and sat am, if you can't book in advance, you can get tickets at the Medici Chapels Museum (close by).

“Art and History hidden gem in Florence”
Reviewed 18 October 2011

Off the beaten track, a real hidden gem in Florence a few steps from the Duomo and close to San Lorenzo street market. Charming decor, intriguing ambience, great art collections. A well-preserved noble "palazzo", where the Martellis haved lived till 1980's. Enjoybale and informative guided tours led by a group of enthusiastic local experts. Art and history brought back to life! Absolutely not to miss in Florence. It's better to call in advance, but you can usually get tickets on the spot (3 euro). Very clean toilets and very kind staff.
