I spent 3 nights at the Villa Cora. The hotel was truly beautiful, the grounds were out of a fairytale. The hotel was an easy 10 minute cab ride to the heart of florence and truly worth it. After a day of dealing with the crowds and the heat, nothing was more amazing than the beautiful pool. The staff at the bar and pool was unbelievable. They were so kind and nice and accommodating. They even opened the Cigar Bar for us after midnight, for my boyfriend to get a cigar. The hotel is small, only about 46 rooms and it never felt crowded, but seemed just right. It felt like we were at a beautiful old tuscan villa with all the modern amenities. The concierge was helpful and attentive. We stayed in a room in the main villa and one in the smaller villa. Both equally nice. My only caveat is to bring bug spray. I was bit terribly at the pool by some sort of mosquitos. The food at the hotel is good. We never made it to breakfast, but heard it was great. We had lunch one day there and it was good. The dinner looked great as well. This hotel is absolutely my favorite hotel I have ever stayed at in Europe. I loved it!

A fabulous base for exploring Florence, which is within walking distance. The hotel is situated out of the hustle and bustle and is very easy to find. It also has excellent parking and plenty of it. The facilities are superb and the attention to detail excellent. The staff were wonderful, polite and friendly. I bought a group and we have 18 rooms for 3 nights - everyone adored the hotel. The food was excellent too.

We stayed here for one night for my birthday before heading down into the Tuscan countryside.

We arrived at the hotel and did not want to leave. I arrived at 9am and was given coffee whilst waiting for our room to be made up. When it was, 10 minutes later, we had been upgraded to a suite with our own elevator entrance!

Everything about this hotel oozes decadence. The rooms, the pool, the spa, lunch on the terrace, the wine.....

Close enough to Florence (10 mins in a cab) but far enough to feel out of the city. Beautiful villa and grounds.

A perfect treat!

This is our 3rd visit to Florence and as it was our honeymoon we decided to find a hotel a little out of the centre and chose the Villa Cora for the pool and calm. We travel a lot and spend a lot of time in great hotels around the world. The Villa Cora did not disappoint.

Renovated 4 years ago in a contemporary take on its original style, the hotel is in perfect condition. The staff were welcoming, helpful, friendly and most worthy of the five stars awarded to them. The restaurant was so good we were excited to come back in the evening and the staff where exceptional and went out of their way to assist. Food and beverages were surprisingly good value given the beautiful setting.

The hotel is 5 minutes in a taxi from the Ponto Vecchio (7-10 Euros) thus making it the perfect place to stay as it is near all the action but on a hill above the city so one can "retreat" back to the side of the beautiful pool after your day walking the city. If you still feel like walking it is a 25 minute pleasant walk.

Truly a five star experience, our hotel of choice in Florence. Thank you to all at the Villa Cora. We had a wonderful time.

Room Tip: The main house is the original building and is frankly stunning. I would suggest taking a room in th...

Our family of four stayed for two nights in a family suite at the beginning of our recent vacation. We had more than enough room to spread out. We enjoyed our stay at the Villa Cora very much. The hotel is outside of the city center, which is a plus because it means that the hotel is quiet and peaceful, and nice to get back to after a busy day seeing the sights. The beautiful pool was a real plus when travelling with kids. The staff was outstanding and treated us like royalty. Probably the best bath tubs we have ever used.

Even though the hotel is not in the center of the city, it was very easy to use the free shuttle van. It leaves regularly from the hotel, and to return to the hotel in the evening all we had to do was call the hotel, tell them where we were, and the hotel would then send the van to pick us up. It was very easy and convenient.

It is difficult to imagine a better situated hotel, more elegantly appointed and with more accommodating staff. This 1860 baronial villa in a park-like setting on the edge of one of the great gardens in the world is a treat to all the senses. From the Sala degli Specchi to the individual rooms, this is a world class hotel. The problems we had are so nominal they are not worth noting -- such as WAY too many roses on the walls of our suite on the second floor. Evelyn Waugh's response to WWII jingoism in Britain was to "Put our More Flags," -- hence the "put out more roses" title of this review. Guests should be advised that if you are allergic to roses, stay away. If you love them, this is the place for you.

The complementary shuttle service is very helpful. Guests should be advised that it is only available half of the time, but that only makes sense as there is just one shuttle. But there is almost always a cab letting someone off or just a few minutes away to drive you down the hill or across the hill to San Miniato. One should presume you will be taking a cab back to the hotel -- it's not that expensive and far more commodious. Just remember that you must find one at a Taxi Stand in Florence. We saw far too many tourists trying to hail a cab, particularly late afternoon or at night. And cabs late at night in Florence are often hard to come by.

The food at the villa is excellent with a very fine and amiable chief chef and wait staff. We did not avail ourselves to the pool. It was lovely to look at and it kept many of the guests out of the hotel much of the day, which worked very well.

Indeed, on one level, one of the most disappointing things about the hotel are the guests. For the most part, these are the kind of people one assiduously avoids in daily life -- at a cocktail party, were you to overhear their conversation you would quickly move across the room. From the teenage American girl with a fawning mother who complained about the taste of her coffee and eschewed the many delicacies at breakfast, eating only cherries, to the haughty Germanic woman at dinner who pontificated loudly (albeit in perfect Italian) about her views on "the soul of prosciutto" and the best places to find meat and wine in Uruguay and Paraguay, only to lecture the chef on the proper way to prepare a true Tuscan fish soup -- the people that populate the Villa Cora, at least during our week there, where something like "La Dolce Vita meets Grande Hotel." But the hotel itself and its staff are a treat and well worth the price of admission. And on any given day, if the Sala degli Specchi was not closed for a special event, there are noshes, water, and coffee available in the afternoon and it is all but empty, giving you that Louis XIV sort of feeling, if only for a moment.

And the view from the much underutilized roof patio is lovely and cool, even on a July evening.

We would stay there again in a heart beat.

Room Tip: I can't imagine there are any bad rooms.
