“Just perfect!”
Reviewed 1 September 2011

We have stayed in several hotels in Florence. We were ther on business. This hotel is the most perfect location. The taxi driver at the airport just smiled when we gave him our destination. He told us that we must have had some insider information as this hotel was a jewel!
Porters were fabulous, reception was beyond welcoming, room was spotless, air conditioned, large bathroom and just what we needed.
Location was tranquil, idyllic spot. Bar/lounge was great. Breakfast super and we will never stay at another property. Owned and operated by Salvatore Ferragamo. Restaurant is superb. Art collection is so very interesting.

Thank you to the Hotel Lungarno. Recently, we visited Florence and had booked a different hotel, which when we got there, we realized would NOT work for our family - 2 full size teenagers and my husband and I. American Express came to the rescue and got us a last minute reservation with Hotel Lungarno. We were warmly greeted at Hotel Lungarno and our rooms were beautiful! What a spectacular small hotel. Beautiful spot overlooking the river, lovely breakfast room, extremely gracious staff. I'd absolutely stay here again!!! Couldn't have asked for a better hotel - perfect location, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast and evening drinks...

Room Tip: Overlooking the water!

I loved the Hotel Lungarno. Location excellent (I was afraid I would not like south of Arno, but it was very charming and just as close to the all-so-important part of Florence and merely steps from the Ponte Vecchio). Had 2 rooms: Room 762 was for our teenagers and although small, was beautifully furnished, bright, airy, top floor, perfect view of the top of the Duomo and Arno, large lovely bath and great closet. Room 323 was for my husband and me, upgraded to the river view side for both rooms because of American Express Platinum hotel affiliation; very pretty, bright and fresh, with very interesting and original art. Beautiful bath with fun toiletries (Ferragamo), and again, a reallly pretty closet. All rooms, hallways, lobby and common areas are bright and light. Both our rooms were on the Arno side, and although I didnt see the non-Arno side, I think I'd only stay with views of the river. Lobby bar is so easy, breezy and relaxing, and serves lots of tasty complimentary "nibbles" with your afternoon wine. Breakfast included in our plan and was nice. Staff was very friendly and easy going. The only fault, is the lack of a knowledgeable and dedicated concierge. There was no concierge. The front desk clerks will attempt to help with restaurant selections. Although the front desk staff was always so friendly with perfect English, they're were not that good at reading our wishes and steering us in the right direction for restaurants. No matter, I still loved the hotel and would suggest Hotel Lungarno to my friends.

Room Tip: The Arno-side rooms are bright, airy, hip and, of course, a beautiful view! Our 2 rooms look just l...

Loving this place. I never post reviews but after receiving so much great advice from fellow travelers on this board I decided to get in on the sharing. I've been to Florence a few times over the past 15 years and never stayed on the South side of the Arno. The hotel is so convenient - a few steps away from the Ponte Vecchio so you are really centrally located. We were upgraded to a river view room with a balcony which I imagine has made a huge difference in the experience of our stay. Looking down the river, there don't seem to be too many hotels with this amenity. Over all great staff/breakfast/drinks. We didn't eat in the restaurant next door. Tastefully decorated room with a great bed. Small bathroom. Use of the gym at the sister hotel right across the river was helpful if not a huge gym. Good for a quick work out if you find the time in your travels. They also have bikes available to take around but I'm not sure of the cost. Would definitely go back and recommend!

My husand and I stayed at the Hotel Lungarno (not to be confused with the Lungarno Suites), which was right on the Arno River and near the Ponte Vecchio. The big difference in the hotel and the Suites is that the hotel looks out on the city and the Duomo, but the Suites looks in the opposite direction. A travel agent who knows we like to get good deals booked us in a too-good-to-believe room "deal", but once we arrived, we found that the room was REALLY small and looked out on the street. Since we were there five nights, we wanted something better so we asked for another room. After much back and forth with mgmt, they offered us a fabulous jr. suite overlooking the river and city. It had a HUGE bathroom, several lighted closets, a sitting area and three large windows that opened. (The only slightly strange thing was that the TV was a small, old fashioned one on a swivel stand.) All of this for only 100 euros/night more than we were going to pay for the other room. I'm sure this was because we were there for several nights in the middle of the week in March - not high season. The price on the back of the door in our room said it was $1200/nt. We paid about $500, so I can't really say what a regular room would cost or be like. The hotel's location was great, the staff was helpful, and the bar service was excellent (we enjoyed a nightcap of limoncello with little cookies almost every night in the salon.) There was a large restaurant which looked nice and a lot of people ate there, although we did not.. Breakfast was not included.

Room Tip: Obviously, ask for one facing the river.

My husband and I stayed three nights at the Hotel Lungarno. We loved the location in the heart of Florence. The rooms were beautiful as well as the rest of the hotel. The breakfast
every morning was wonderful and we had one of the best dinners ever at the hotel! The
staff were gracious, kind and professional. We are planning on staying again on our
next visit to beautiful Florence. Thank you!
