“What an experience”
Reviewed 20 October 2013 credit card Amex Cardmember Review

My partner and I stayed at the Hotel Lungarno in September for his birthday. We received a double room upgrade based on my GHA membership. Our beautiful room was split over 2 levels looking directly over the Ponte Vecchio - the view and location could not have been better. The staff were wonderful during the trip and could not have been more helpful. As part of the trip (also from the GHA membership) we were treated as an award to a Sushi dinner for 2 at a sister hotel - the experience was amazing and credit goes to the hotels. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants some luxury and an ideal location in beautiful Florence.

We stayed here for 6 nights recently. This hotel on the Arno River is conviently located a block or so from the Ponte Vecchio and has a superb view of the bidge and the city in the common sitting and dining rooms. The service is polished, cordial and prompt and the immediate neighborhood offers several excellent restaurants. The only downside was our room in the back of the hotel above an often noisy side street. Although the staff offered another room higher above the street, we preferred our large, well appointed room with a double shower and balcony than a smaller room with potentially less noise. I would reccomend booking early and asking for a room on the Arno. I have stayed in Florence several times but never experienced the genuine friendliness and helpfulness of staff top to bottom at this beautiful hotel. Thomas H.

Room Tip: Book a riverside room early.

We (three couples) reserved this hotel in July for an October trip and expected luxury. Our rooms were a total joke! Mine and my husbands in particular was on the seventh floor and then down about seven steps to an awkward tiny room with a closet that fit six outfits but only with three feet vertical for space! We looked out over over apartment buildings and could actually see what was going on inside! The internet was a hit or miss. When you left the room, all electricity turned off and your devices couldn't charge. The key had to be left at the front desk. It does not deserve to be held in such high regard, and we were all very disappointed. I heard it is being renovated this year and hopefully updates will be made. Other then that, the lounge area was comfortable.

Room Tip: Ask specifically for a room facing the water and ask the square footage. Make sure you get it in wr...

Dear Mrs. Gwen M,
thank you for your corteous message and review, we take great care of business and any positive suggestions makes us stronger in order to deliver a better service.
Please accept our deepest apologies for the room size you stayed in, please keep in mind the rooms are built inside a medieval tower dated from the XIII century which is protected by the Italian Art Bureau... many of our guests find this situation very charming and attractive.
We have large suites and rooms also, should you come to Florence next time please enquire for those more exclusive rooms overlooking Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo.
I remain at your service

This was our first stay in Florence and we are already planning our return. The Hotel was so incredibly beautiful, a view that looks like a postcard, and the staff was just outstanding. We were upgraded when we arrived (such a nice surprise) to a room with a balcony and the most amazing view that we've ever seen. Our Suite had 2 floors along with 2 bathrooms, which was a real treat. The bar/lounge area was so comfortable and the Hotel restaurant, Borgo San Jacopo, was outstanding. We arrived later in the evening and had our first meal there and even though they were booked for our final evening, the staff at the front desk was able to arrange a table for us. We could not have asked for anything more. The buffet breakfast was served until 11AM which was great for us since we are late risers. We normally had coffee in our room which arrived each day within 10 minutes of our call. Also loved the cookies and fruit that were in our room on arrival. All the dining recommendations that the front desk staff, along with the doorman gave us were outstanding. Cannot wait to return next year, same time same place, only we will stay longer. We were at the Lungarno for 7 days but plan on staying for 10 next year. Thank you so much to the staff for making our first visit so memorable.

This small luxury hotel was our delightful "home" for nine days while in Florence. The people at the front desk and throughout the hotel were most helpful and courteous, knowing our name each time we met! Very convenient and wonderful being right on the Orno river. Hope to return to Florence and certainly to the Hotel Lungarno.

We stayed for two nights on our first trip to Florence. Simone and Andrea were outstanding. They were both very warm and helpful with good local recommendations. All of the staff were extremely friendly. Unforthunately, we have forgotten the name of the bellman, but he was also OUTSTANDING. Overall, it was friendly, professional and not-pretentious. We felt right at home and enjoyed everyone's good humor.

Room Tip: We had a terrace room on the river and it was great location to have some wine and cheese before din...

We spent 3 nights at Hotel Lungarno and enjoyed every minute of it. Friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Great rooms (loved the fruit plate the first night). The buffet breakfast each morning was the start to a great day in Florence and the bar was a superb start to the evening. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, relaxing stay within easy walking distance of all of Florence's attractions. We'll be back.
