“One of the best stays in Florence”
Reviewed 9 December 2012

I've been to Florence many times and have stayed in the various hotels from the chain 'chraming hotels of the world' to the simple 3 stars hotels.
I chose Cavour because of the good special price for the period of my stay and it's position.
I really loved it! the staff is super, the room very comfortable, clean, nice, good breakfast. The roof terrace was closed, it's a pity, but it was rainy cold autumn days and i could live with it :)
Fantastic position- 3-4 minutes to the main attractions of Florence, nice not very tourist places to eat around. The area of the old Florence with palazzo pazzi and palazzo bargello on the other side of the street is one of the best places to stay in the town.
I am very satisfied of everything in this hotel and got a real pleasure of my 4 nights there.

I stayed at this hotel on a three day trip to Florence. I loved this hotel. Our room was great with the bed on a raised platform within the room. The bathroom was spotless and the breakfast room was on the top floor with a roof terrace looking out over the city. If we went back I would stay here again.

Currently staying in this Hotel, for two nights during one of my usual business trip to Florence.
I believe I have never seen a smaller room in my travelling, not to say of the bathroom that cannot be called like that. It's a loo with a shower ( that does no work well! being built probably in the 80s!!), you get better towels in cheap B&B in the countryside ! There is no chair ( I have to work sitting on the bed), no table, no wardrobe ! It's not particularly clean and internet in room is super slow.
When I complained to the front desk a shy girl a bit embarrassed said maybe we can see if we can change your room, nothing happened. Later I met the manager and she said maybe be tomorrow, why tomorrow ??? If you want to make it up for it do it now ! Anyway nothing has happened and I spent the night in the hole ! On top of everything else, the hotel is very noisy ! At 3 am I was waken up by screaming kids/drunks in the courtyard downstairs.
All experience absolutely outrageous !
I'm really shocked that this Hotel is listed as a 4*, on my opinion would not deserve 3*.
I will definitely not come back and will not recommend it to my clients.

Room Tip: Avoid it !

This hotel was so close to everything that we could walk everywhere. The breakfast buffet was a variety of foods & was good. We had a balcony in our room which I enjoyed going out on. The rooms were clean & pretty.

An ideal base for walking round the sights of Florence, between the Duomo and the Uffizzi Palace, gallery, Ponte Vecchio etc. Good quality buffet breakfast but so much choice in nearby restaurants we never used the restaurant for dinner. The roof terrace was closed for maintenance work. Only crticism of our stay (4 nights) was the incredible late night noise levels from drunken students returning screaming and yelling every night between 1-4 am!!! No fault of the hotel but a room not over the Via Proconsolo would have been better, they offered to move us after 2 nights but we had such a busy schedule we could not find the time to re pack and un pack for this to happen. Over all though an enjoyable stay and reception were most helpful in recommending local restaurants offfering low cost excellent food.

Room Tip: Ask for room not over the street due to noise levels, the room will be smaller and less elegant but...

I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to hotels as long as the rooms are clean and the staff are at least somewhat helpful. This experience was horrible. Our toilet was broken when we arrived (it happens, no problem) but when we were given a new room, it was still occupied with a woman changing when we walked in! (ok, even that could be a bad system glitch showing the room free) but what you can't excuse is the manager of the hotel yelling at us the next day saying we're liars, difficult guests, etc. when all we wanted to do was either change rooms or get the toilet fixed. It was a really upsetting experience to a stay that would have otherwise been good.
