The hotel is in a great location but since it is in the center of the action it was very noisy. People were outside late into the night(and this was January) and then loud street cleaning machines started up at 5:30am.

I wanted to use the fitness facilities but they didn't want to open them until 9am. I had to give them a hard time and finally got in there one morning at 8. They were snooty about it.

Breakfast was very nice.

Perfect location! couldn't think of any other better place to stay. worth the money. when i saw other pictures by other travelers I realized that our Room (sorry forgot the room #) was so much nicer than those pictures taken. our room was facing the church behind the hotel and it was spacious, bright, nice .. looks like it was renovated maybe. I would definitely come back here again if I visit Florence!

I must be honest, i am shocked that people are giving this hotel 4/5???? We stayed in room 211. The view is really depressing and when you leave the room, the smell in the corridor nearly kills you. The room is very cheaply decorated.

The breakfast room looks good but the staff (2 women and a man with a tattoo in his neck) speaks and laughs very loud. We were just sitting there looking at one another as a normal conversation was just not possible.

The roof terrace was still closed for renovations.

I will not go there again.

Room Tip: I am not quite certain, but i suspect they started renovating the hotel from the top down. Try ask for a newly renovated room. Even if you get some lip, it is worth a try!

We thought the Grand Cavour had done a major overhaul of the front desk staff this year compared with last. This year they were pleasant, helpful, not effusive but engaging (vs. Last year when they were close to nasty). We loved our rooms (2 rooms, 3 people) especially because they were located on the south side of the hotel, which is much more quiet than the east side. The rooftop bar and breakfast are added extras to this perfectly located hotel in Florence.

I love the fact the I came during the week of December. The weather was beautiful. The room is good. The service however is poor. My dad went to ask the front desk to use a phone. She refused. What she meant is that she want us to use the phone in the room. The room phone charges the extra fee.
