“Four days in Florence.”
Reviewed 2 April 2014

We had a great time at the hotel Cavour. The quality of the reception and the hotel in general is very good. Our room was spacious and perfectly calm. The breakfast was good, probably missing some typical Florentine things. Very well located in the center of the city, we would certainly recommend this hotel

First time in Florence and what a beautiful and interesting city !

The hotel has a very grand entrance and a feel of history, reception staff were polite and professional. Room was nice size and lots of storage space. Some street noise during the day as stayed on first floor overlooking main street and this got much louder in the early hours of the morning, but my friend and I managed to sleep through with no problems ( even though man in the next room to us seemed to be talking very loudly throughout the night most nights and walls quite thin). Bathroom seemed slightly outdated and could do with a bit of a refresh, remember to close the window when on the toilet if you are on the first floor as otherwise whole street will have a view of you doing your business he he.

Breakfast was fine, didn't have to wait for a seat. Lots of cold meats, cheese and the pastries were amazing. Sometimes the atmosphere felt a little bit fractious with quite a lot of banging and clashing with staff clearing up and putting out new food, maybe this could be toned down a bit for a calm relaxing breakfast, not a huge problem however.

Agree the hotel had a strange smell about it,but to be honest all I could smell was the reed diffusers placed in public areas and no issue in the room itself.

One slight worry, addressed by other 'posts' on here was the key issue, handing it in when leaving the building . We came back one night and I asked for the key in my terrible Italian and I must have got the word for 3 and 5 mixed up and was given the wrong key ( I could quite easily have opened this room if of the criminal persuasion ). Maybe some kind of ID should be required or just the normal electronic card system. I then made sure I asked in English and didn't embarrass myself with my awful attempt at speaking the lingo.

Rooftop bar at night was stunning, a little expensive yes ,but just one glass of chianti looking at the Duomo at sunset is a must. Many of the German hotel guests ignored the ' buy one drink' rule and the waiter didn't ask them to, I think he just wanted a peaceful life and shrugged his shoulders .

Was recommended the Gatto e la Volpe restaurant nearby and ate there every day, my friend said was it was like when your grandmother went on holiday and only ate at one place every time she visited he he ! ..but the food was really good, robust, big portions and very reasonable. The antipasti was awesome and huge !

I'd happily come back and would bring earplugs again and hopefully the hotel would have sorted out the issues with the keys and security (I was saddened to hear of other posters experiencing things being stolen from their rooms).

Florence to me is the 'new' Paris, full of history, food and wine..but a quarter of the price..I want to go back ;-)

This was a terrific choice for our business conference. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. The location is terrific, 2 minute walk to Duomo, restaurants abound in the area. The breakfast was very, very good. Though on the last day the staff was just having a bad day, coffee and some of the food kept running out, so there was a wait. But, everyone has a bad day. Rooftoop terrnce is exceptional, great views of the Duomo and Firenze in morning or a drink in the evening, Rooms were very spacious, clean and wifi (I know, but needed) . I will definitely return.

An elegant hotel without being ostentacious.
The location is central and on a charming little street with some excellent restaurants.
My room was to the front with french doors and a little balcony.
The bells were wonderful.
A visit to the roof bar is a "must" - take photographs both in day and night.
The breakfast was delicious and offered a very good choice.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
I hope to return.

Hotel Cavour in Florence was a charming Italian hotel with very pretty, spacious, clean rooms. Bathroom was huge but needed updating. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choices. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very nice neighborhood with places to eat or get a glass of wine right next to hotel. Just around corner at the end of the street from hotel is the magnificent Duomo, two minutes walk. Everything is in walking distance from this hotel, restaurants, wine bars, boutiques, perfect location, I will go back to Florence and I will stay here again. Just a traveller tip you need to spend at least three or four days in this beautiful city.

Our family stayed in this hotel as a last minute find, and what a find! We were not expecting to spend the night in Firenze but a change of plans got us looking for a good place to sleep in. The rooms were very nice, clean and modern. The staff was accommodating and very helpful with an very good command of english. Breakfast was nice and rooms were quiet. Great location in the centre of it all!
