Grand Hotel Cavour has many fantastic features such as the Staff who were always pleasant and helpful to the roof top garden which we enjoyed a drink on our first evening and the hotels fantastic location in the centre of Florence. However, our room looked nothing like the rooms in the photos. Room 235 was dark, the furniture was dated and unappealing, the bed was uncomfortable and when we first arrived, there was a really strange smell so we had to open the windows. We were on the second floor towards the back of the hotel which didn't lead to a restful night's sleep due to the street noise but this cannot be helped by the hotel. On our last morning in the hotel we were awoken by a chamber maid who walked straight into our room at about 8:45am! An innocent accident but it still shouldn't have happened. Breakfast is limited so I would advise future guests to go down early to get the best selection of food. Expect to wait about 20 minutes for a pot of breakfast tea though.

Was the most comfortable bed we had in Italy. The location was fantastic easy walk to the main sites staff was friendly. The bar on top of the roof is expensive and that is a large draw back. The view is spectacular at sunset.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and helpful: recommended great restaurants and gave great tips on finding places. The breakfast was delicious. Our room was clean, nicely appointed and large, The bathroom was especially large for Italy. We loved the rooftop bar and enjoyed being up there even when it was raining lightly. The location is perfect for getting around Florence. We would definately stay here again.

I have stayed in this hotel multiple times on my visits to Nuovo Pignone. Upon my last checkout, the attendent refused to give me a receipt and told me that I have to contact my booking agency, despite the fact that I booked directly with the hotel. My adventures in getting a receipt 2 months later have been epic. Multiple calls always insist that I send an email, which is never responded to. This would be a great hotel if they would just do something a simple as send a receipt.

Pros: excellent location. And beautiful views from rooftop bar but unfortunately only opens at 5.30pm.
Cons: dirty stained dooner, shower trickles, toilet broken, air con broken, hallway smells like sewage, if you have a vehicle beware they don't tell you the garage is closed 1am to 7am, one particular reception member very rude and unhelpful "you could leave your car anywhere after all it's just a hire car and not your responsibility"!! Huh! And have us wrong directions! And last but not least restaurant doc TERRIBLE food: overcooked fishy octopus, very fatty undercooked bloody lamb, cold minestrone.
Thanks a bunch Cavour! Thank goodness we love Firenze! Safe travels ;)

Excellent location! Not even a block away from the santa maria del fiore aka the duomo, del Bargello museum, piazza repubblica....and so much more!

The streets are busy but then what major Italian city is not bustling? The lobby decor is aesthetically tasteful! I like the fusion of classical with modern. When we arrived, part of the first floor restaurant was being renovated and only served breakfast.

The concierge is extremely helpful and very attentive to our needs. They helped us upgrade to a superior triple because of a mix up on our booking. Our room didn't face the streets which was fine because we wanted peace and quiet. Going to our room, I notice more tasteful designs in the hallways. Our room had an open site line with partial partition with a screen on the side. One of the partition had a love seat with a pull out bed. The other side of the partition had two twins. Again all tastefully designed mixing old with new. There's a desk, minibar, flat screen tv, robes, slippers, tea and coffee maker. I slept well despite it was on a pullout bed. Linens are great with fluffy pillows.

Breakfast was delicious. Eggs, toast, bacon, meats, cheeses, cereals, juices, coffees, fruits, assorted breads and more! Cocktails on the terrace was fantastic and the view is worth it!

Would I come back to this place again when I visit Florence? You better believe it! I'll be back again!

On a side note: we had room 504. I know is not much to look at but it is very peaceful!

We stayed at Grand Hotel Cavour in Firenze as part of our honeymoon trip to Italy. It was a gorgeous hotel in a perfect location! It was very modern and upscale; I was extremely pleased with the décor of the hotel. The staff was extremely nice and friendly, and very helpful. Our room was a really nice size bedroom and bathroom as well. My only complaint about the room was our view, as we faced a tiny space between buildings. But, we hadn’t planned on much time in the room anyway as we were there to explore Florence! The location couldn’t have been more perfect. 1 block from Il Duomo, right in the center of town. That made it super easy to find our hotel after walking around all day, because we know which corner of Il Duomo the street was. The hotel also had a gorgeous rooftop bar, with lots of couches and romantic seating, to sip a glass of wine and enjoy a view of the city! That really made this hotel extra special. I highly recommend going up there at night for a drink! The free breakfast was a really nice spread as well! Grand Hotel Cavour is an excellent choice for your stay in Florence!
