Hotel Maxim is in a great location! Walking distance to everything we wanted to see. It is a simple hotel and was recommended in a travel book as why pay more, we requested a quieter room looking onto the central courtyard as suggested. It was a clean, basic hotel and suited us just fine. Breakfast was included. Staff was helpful. I'd go back.

Room Tip: Request a room off the street with private bath.

This is a much lower-priced hotel than its sister Hotel Axial, two floors below. It shows. My room was drab. There are two free computers you can use to access the internet, but if you want WiFi, it is 5 euros a day ... too expensive! Unreasonable! I stayed only one night, in order to be in Florence the night before an early flight home, so I did not experience the breakfast. One staff member was cold and grouchy; if you don't like dealing with the public, get another job. Good location, good price, no fun.

Hotel Maxim is centrally located and is an easy walk to all the sights. It is surrounded by great restaurants and good shopping. The helpful staff made dinner reservations and obtained the necessary reservations ahead of time for the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia. There were two computers on the main floor available for guest use. The day we checked out we were able to store our bags for free so we could take in another day of sights and gelaterias!

Room Tip: Ask for quiet room, pay bill with cash.

You can't get better situated in Florence, just a block down from the Duomo and a few blocks up from the Uffizi and Piazza del Signoria. When you're looking it for it, be aware that the stores on the street have a different addressing system than the building. In the center of the block is a doorway '11' with buttons to let you up the the Hotel Maxim and other businesses. The staff was very helpful and the place was very clean. They have two computers for internet. We didn't have the best location for a room which was down a meandering hallway and then up a flight of stairs. It wasn't easy for my mother to maneuver. Other hotels, upon seeing here, tried to give us more accessible rooms. The hotel had a service that came and got the car and garaged it for us. It wasn't cheap, but we knew it was safe. It only took them 20 minutes to deliver it when we were ready to leave.

The hotel is easy to find via the instructions given by the staff. The garage picked up the car within 15 minutes. The location of the hotel is perfect to explore Florence by foot. Not more than 10 minutes to any of the important places that should be visited. As with all important museums in Italy, it is advisable to get reservation tickets for the uffizzi gallery well in advance unless one wants to spend hours in line. If you want internet in the room, it's 5Euro for 24h, which is in line with European hotels. They do have 2 desktops in the lobby that can be used for free.
The breakfast at the hotel was normal italian, nothing special but the essentials. If you have to leave early in the morning, breakfast cannot be served before 7.30am at the earliest, so that was kind of an inconvenience, but.....The room we had was ok (triple), window into a courtyard. The bathroom had a funny smell, but we let the exhaust fan run while in the room. Other than that, the towels could be of a bit more textile, the were more like napkin thin than towel thick.
All in all we were happy for the price we paid. A great hotel downtown for 2 nights.

What a great spot, especially for the money. Best value in Florence. Location is about as good as it gets, right in the center of town. The room was clean, big and more than what we needed. Plus, it's quiet and the A/C works great. Friendly and helpful staff is more than accomodating. If I'm ever in Florence again, I'm staying here!

Walkable from train station. Staff very helpful and cordial. Facility is dated, especially bathroom in our room. Our room, a double, was very small. Clean , nice breakfast. Air conditioned. Lift takes you to reception, but added stairs to guest rooms. Overall would stay again especially because consierges were so nice and accomodating. Free Internet access in reception , but charge for Wifi in your room.
