Easy, direct and flat walk from train station. Very convenient to all sites in Florence being just one block from the Duomo. Note though, that the bells at the Duomo start at 7 a.m. and go every 15 minutes for an hour, so if you’re a late-sleeper, that could be a deterrent. The hotel room was average-sized (large for Europe), though the bathroom was pretty cramped. There is a nice breakfast, and the ability to use free internet on their computers in the lobby, but you have to pay a daily rate for wi-fi in your room. Also, while there is an elevator to the reception floor of the hotel, if your room is on the second floor, there is no elevator so you might still have to carry bags upstairs.

The hotel is very well located, right next to the dome. We had a family room, with a tiny bathroom. The very bad point is : THE STAFF at the reception during the day : not helpfull, not kind and not polite (don't expect any greeting when you come to get your key).
We will never go back !
Don't get there with your car, because it is very difficult to get through the pedestrian streets (the hotel gave us a plan which wasn't updated and it will coast you an extra 24 euros a day in a private parking).

We rented two rooms for our family of five and spent 3 nights at the Maxim. One room had good A/C, the other didn't. Management moved us the next day to another room with good A/C. Very good continental breakfast came with the price of the room. Wireless internet in the office as well at 2 PC's set up for guest's to use, no charge. Rooms were clean and serviceable. The location is perfect, right off the Duomo square. I would stay there again.

We stayed for 4 nights and were right in the center of the action. Just steps away from the duomo, Uffisi, and other major attractions. Very quiet at night. Good breakfast, too!

This hotel is located right by the Duomo in the centre of Florence, yet the rooms were quiet, clean and well appointed. Management does everything possible to make your stay pleasant. There are two internet stations in the lobby free for the use of the guests and a healthy breakfast is included. My sister and I spent four days in this hotel and were more than satisfied by the value for the money.
There is no restaurant in the hotel and remember that it is located above a busy street. If you are looking for a five star Canadian/American hotel then this is not for you. If you are looking for great value, cleaniness and good breakfast in a great location....then here it is.

Room Tip: ask for what you need when making a reservation

Hotel Maxim is in a great location! Walking distance to everything we wanted to see. It is a simple hotel and was recommended in a travel book as why pay more, we requested a quieter room looking onto the central courtyard as suggested. It was a clean, basic hotel and suited us just fine. Breakfast was included. Staff was helpful. I'd go back.

Room Tip: Request a room off the street with private bath.

This is a much lower-priced hotel than its sister Hotel Axial, two floors below. It shows. My room was drab. There are two free computers you can use to access the internet, but if you want WiFi, it is 5 euros a day ... too expensive! Unreasonable! I stayed only one night, in order to be in Florence the night before an early flight home, so I did not experience the breakfast. One staff member was cold and grouchy; if you don't like dealing with the public, get another job. Good location, good price, no fun.
