“Great location”
Reviewed 4 April 2013

A short walk to most of the attractions Firenze has to offer. Most of the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Request a room toward the center of the building; the noise on the streets sides made it hard to sleep, morning and late night. Over all, I was very pleased with my experience; clean rooms, great service, and very reasonable prices.

Room Tip: Request a room toward the center of the building; the noise on the streets sides made it hard to sle...

Nice well located hotel with excellent staff, but in e evening they employ a man who is the rudest receptionist ever, arrogant rude and unhelpful.i saw him tell one american couple he didn,t know where the laundromat was because he never used it.
He really is terrible.its a shame because the female staff during the day are fantastic smiling helpful and kind.
He really needs to cahnge his attitude

Room Tip: Rooms on second floor are quieter

The Maxim Hotel is in the same building as the Axial Hotel. We were not able to get a room at the Axial so we were able to get a room at the Maxim. Its older but it was very clean. The breakfast was also good. The staff is great, very helpful. The location is great right in the center. We were able to leave our luggage there after we checked out so we could do a little sightseeing before we left that evening.

This hotel is right on one of the main streets in Florence which meant that everything was no more than a 10 minute walk away. The hotel layout was a little confusing once you get in. The halls become a labyrinth if you don't pay attention to where you're going and where you came from. Our room was small but bright with a large window that opened into a view of an inner cloister. The bathroom was almost uncomfortably small. The breakfast room was light and airy and they had a small but decent selection of breads, fruit, cereal, and drinks.

If you are looking for frills or amenities you will not find that here, but you will find a place that is clean and dependable. You are in the heart of the action and just step outside your door and all of Florence is right there. You couldn't pick a better location for this side of the Arno. I was surprised how quiet the hotel room was because it is on a very busy street! I believe they said they had double-paned glass. There might be other hotels more charming or more stylish, but be careful. A lot of the places that seemed to have a lot more "going on" turned out to have moldy smells in the halls, or the linens were threadbare, the rooms were noisy, etc. I marked this hotel as "very good" because I did not have one complaint - it delivered what it promised. Full disclosure: I stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago, but I could not mark this review as such.
I don't think it would have changed drastically since then, but I'm sure the other reviews can add to what I have said here.

Unpretentious but absolutely adequate and so central. Very friendly and helpful reception staff although we couldn't get WiFi to work despite la Signora's best efforts. Abundant breakfast. Rather small but adequate bathroom facilities. Not at all noisy despite a well-frequented street outside and slept well thanks to extra blanket provided. Great recommendation - thank you - for the nearby Ristorante Paoli. Would willingly return.

Overall this hotel was nice. There are flights of steps you have to carry your luggage up depending on where your room is, but you manage. Room was comfortable and clean, basic breakfast, average price. The location, however, was fanstastic. The duomo is directly to your left and the Uffizi gallery, Palazzo Vecchio and loggia to your right. If you are a light sleeper perhaps not the best pick as the campanile is right outside.
