“A must see Statue of David”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

I visited Florence in 2011 and one of the attraction that should not be missed is statue of David. I was at awe when I saw it. It was really amazing. I wish they allowed us to take pictures. I have to take it secretly to even capture the art made by michael Angelo. This site is a must see.

“A Definite Must See!!”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

Located in the Accademia museum, this original sculpture is the highlight as there was little else in there. Be sure to get a guided tour as they will point out features that most people won't see or appreciate. This is an amazing piece of art and can only be appreciated in person. NOTE....no picture taking is permitted.

“Awed by "the real thing" -- better than pictures”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

Sensations cascade at the first glimpse of DAVID, and sweep away any preconceived notions of its power and beauty. Close, walking all around him, I felt his strength, determination, focus -- that his aim would be true. Words fail me when admiring the extraordinary works of Michelangelo.

“Need a guide to appreciate”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

Unless you have taken history, to fully appreciate this you need a good guide (we had Tuscan Tour Guides - Paul Costa). A guide will help you fully understand why this statue is such a big deal.

“A masterpiece in an otherwise disappointing museum”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

There is no question about the artistic value of Michelangelo's David. However, this masterpiece is to be found in an otherwise rather disappointing museum, which charges for entry exactly the same as the Uffizi. Hence the average score. On the positive side, there was practically no queue (mid November).
