“Only David statue”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 December 2013

The only attraction at Academia is the Statue of David. You pay 11 Euro for it. If you are only interested to see David, go to the Plazza Signoria to see the copied version of David, which is more or less the same IMO.

“Quite awe inspiring.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2013

Not only is this sculpture larger than imagined and very well done, I recommend taking some time to stand in front of it and think about how Michelangelo completed it many hundreds of years ago. We found it very awe inspiring and are glad we took the time to wait in the Accademia line for tickets. One of the art treasures of the world.

“Fantastic piece of art and history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2013

There really are aspects that aren't captured by the reproductions.

I was disappointed that photos were completely banned. The statue is an absolute must see and paying the little extra for timed entry is worth it.

“David”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2013

Our guide gave us a very interesting description of why David is sculpted the way he is - large hands and feet as he was suppose to be on top of a church...not seen close up.
