“The David, and only a little bit more”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

The David is incredible. Awe inspiring. Larger than you think it would be. And very well presented in an impressive space that it has to itself. View from several angles, and train your telephone lens on the face from behind - you will be amazed at how different it looks. Beyond David, there isn't much to the Galleria dell'Accademia -- although an ongoing exhibit of antique musical instruments is interesting. There is a lengthy queue -- so make an appointment in advance, or use a tour guide to get you in and skip the long line. This is a "don't miss" if you are visiting Florence for the first time.

“Not worth it”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

Other than the statue of David pretty boring and not worth the time or money- it wasn't as big a museum as I thought it would be

“Michelangelo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

To see his David, 4 prisoners and La Pieta (or is it by Bernini?) in one room is breathtaking and leaves the rest of the gallery as very secondary.

“More than David!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

The Galleria is a lovely architectural piece. In addition to seeing the most famous sculpture in the world, DAVID, one can see the incomplete sculptures of marble. Amazing!

“A jewel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

Worth all the fuss about it: calling several times in advance to get a reservation and paying extra 4 Euros for it, apart from ticket, waiting in line for 10-15 minutes. David is impressive, seems alive, hundreds of years old tough. Galleria is full of 14 and 15 centuries paintings, most on wood (standard of time then), take all time you need to look at all. A must see in Florence. One low point: bag signs indicating the entrance, walk in circle several times to find it, city should improve that.
