This is a nice, no frills hotel in the centre of Florence. The location was great. We walked from the railway station easily with our bags. We walked every where we needed to go and it was just a few minutes from il Duomo. The staff were very pleasant and helpful booking restaurants, taxis and trips for us. The breakfast is really good, an eat as much as you want buffet with loads of choice, too much! Thoroughly recommend for the price.

We stayed here for 2 nights in July and loved it. While only listed as 2 star, it was one of the little gems you come across every once in a while. First, the location was wonderful. Walking distance from the train station and only a couple of blocks from the duomo and all of the major attractions. The hotel was exceptionally clean, and while not fancy, had everything you need. Great air conditioning, flat screen TV, ample room in the family suite (there were 4 of us) and a modern bathroom. Our room didn't have a view, but we didn't hang out in the room. The breakfast was good and the owners made us feel so welcome and were very helpful.
When we booked (used booking.com) they emailed us to let us know that our reservation was recorded. Also asked if we wanted any museums booked. We did ask them to reserve the Ufizzi and so glad we did. It was an early 8:30 time, but it was like having the gallery to ourselves. Also enjoyed the quiet morning walk through Florence before the crowds gathered. On the day we checked out, they said we could leave our luggage with them for as long as we liked.

We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is situated in a good location in walking distance to many sites. A few drawbacks: for the expense and rating, the rooms are very small. This is to be expected, but the distance from head of beds to wall was 13 inches...meaning we had to lift the suitcases over the bed to get to the other side of room! The furniture was sub-standard--in fact, the end tables were really cubes (like Ikea) that were 12" squared and 13" off the ground. I almost fell out of bed trying to place something on it! The towels are some sort of rubbery, waffled material, not terry cloth and the hand towels are like oversized linen napkins. Not absorbent at all. I asked for a terry cloth towel (as others on here have suggested), and had to go to three people to get one. The third person went into a locked closet to a top shelf about 7 feet hight. I felt as if I had broken into a bank to get a standard towel! The breakfast was ok, except corner cutting such as ice cubes in the packaged oranged juice to water it down, a self-serve coffee machine, etc. Also, the hotel is on the second floor of a shabby building (like a small warehouse entrance). We thought we were at the wrong location. Further, the picutres in their brochure were not of the building, for reasons that became obvious. For comparison, so you don't think I'm fussy, we stayed at similarly rated hotels in Venice, Rome and Verona and they were great, especially by comparison. I feel a bit cheated in what we received vs. the price and 2 star rating. Having said all of that, the location was good, the people that run it tried to overcompensate for the accomodations by being very nice, and the other guests were friendly.

Casci, Manager at Hotel Casci, responded to this reviewResponded 15 January 2012

We thank these guests for their time in writing their comment at the same time we are sorry to learn that they have not enjoyed their stay with us. We would like to make our comments.
Our hotel is located in an old building in the historical center of Florence, dating back to the 15th century, and therefore the size and the outlay of our room differs sligthly from one to another - usually most guests are happy, eventhough some others may not be - as these guests have stayed for a few days, they could have mentioned something and we could at least have tried to show them some other rooms.
As far as towels are concerned, yes, I do remember the client asking me about the soft ones and then passing the request to the chambermaids - maybe it took us some time to fulfil the request, and we are sorry about that. In actual fact, often guests even ask us to buy some bath towels, because they find that the ones we provide are absorbant and do not take much space.
Re breakfast, we think that it is just better to read other guests' comment on TA - however, we would like to point out that we do not water down the fruit juice, we just add ice cubes to keep it cool. And the self service machine grinds the coffee each single time, making a lovely coffee and cappuccino, very much appreciated by the guests (just see some other comments).
We are happy to learn that these guests at least find our family and staff to be nice and friendly. As a closing note, it is interesting to see how impressions differ from guests to guests - of course it is not possible to please everybody at all times - thank God most people find our accomodation to be adequate and their stay with us a nice experience.

The Hotel Casci has a casual elegance that many four star hotels lack. The location is within walking distance to all of Florence's magnificent attractions, such as the Accedemia and Uffizi Galleries. There is an excellent market just around the corner in Piazza San Lorenzo and I found a great pair of boots on Via Cerretani. Our room was comfortable and quiet and the over sized bathtub was especially inviting after a long day of sight seeing. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Pierpaolo went out of his way to make our stay in Florence enjoyable.

Unknown to us the dates between Dec.25 and Jan 1 are a time for travel in Italy, We had not booked a hotel In Florence for New Year"s . When I could not find an affordable hotel for the dates , I phoned Hotel Casci, The Hotel desk without a hesitation found two nights at their Hotel and a third at a neighbouring Hotel, When we arrived they arranged for our bags to be sent to the other hotel and returned the bags to their hotel, the next day. While at the Hotel our room was very clean, breakfast first rate, location great, rates great, front desk service great. This Hotel won my respect and will be our Hotel in Florence. A final note free Wi Fi a must when you are researching your next town.

I loved everything about the hotel. The location is glorious, the room was actually quite spacious even when compared with far more expensive hotels. Normally I skip the breakfast at hotels because I can do without stale white bread and two flavors of cheap jam but here it was truly buffet breakfast with lots of healthy options. But what makes it really unique is friendly, caring and helpful attitude of its owners/staff. I just can't find proper words to express my gratitude for fast communication, helpful tips about the city and great service in general. Highly recommended!
