“Excellent hotel, great attention to detail.”

Don't be put of by the street entrance. Hotel Casci, on the second floor, was a super hotel, better than any 3 star I have stayed in. Decor is clean and fresh; good breakfast; the family room was a good size - kids beds were in their own alcove in the room; had a DVD player in every room with a good selection of DVD's (great when the kids need a break from the heat and museums). Air Conditioning was great. They also had a box of gluten free cereals and crackers at breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location. Free internet access throughout the hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

The mystery about this hotel is why it's only a 2-star. We (2 seniors) stayed at this hotel 10 days during April/May 2009. One need only note the huge amount of "5" ratings to realize that this hotel excels. Rather than repeat what so many others have said about the great location, personal service, and attention to detail, let me just add a few misc items and observations:

First, don't be put off by the spartan entrance on the street level. The hotel is located on the next level up.

Breakfast is outstanding and varied, and just watching the coffee machine in action is a thrill.

Hotel is totally non-smoking (Thank God!)

If the kids are with you: (1) Laundry is available on-site and charged by the kilo which is quick and economical. It is much more convenient than the launderette around the corner. (2) The in-room refrigerator is not a mini-bar and can completely be used for the guest's convenience. (3) There's a MacDonalds just a few steps from the hotel.

The weather was pleasant so I can't comment on the A/C or heat.

Our room was located in the rear (not on the street side) and was totally insulated from outside noise. However, one small concern was that the bed headboard was attached to the wall adjoining the hallway, which resulted in some early morning noise due to early-departing guests with rolling luggage. Maybe some rooms have a different furniture arrangement.

Because of a small lift and uneven floors, the hotel may be unsuitable for some mobility-limited persons, particularly if using a wheelchair.

Overall, it's an excellent hotel.

Hotel Casci was an excellent find. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Hotel itself is basic but spotlessly clean and minutes from all of the main attractions in Florence. Free internet access, good breakfast and we also had a great size room. Would definitely go back again and no problem with recommending this hotel for a great stay in Florence.

Thanks to other trip advisor reviews we came across the hidden gem that is Hotel Casci in Florence.

This small hotel is run by a delightful family who go the extra mile to ensure your stay delivers everything you could wish for. Nothing is too much trouble. They all have a wealth of knowledge about Florence and an abundance of books to enhance your stay should you require them.

The hotel is ideally located just 5 minutes walk from the main centre making it great for sightseeing and dinner later in the evening,

Following their advice we took the City Bus Tour (22 Euro per person - and well worth every penny!!) We saw parts of Florence much further afield than the regular attractions expected and my 20 year wait to see Florence did not disappoint.

Our room was delightful, spotlessly clean and a great comfortable bed. Free Wifi was also available in our room - much to my husband's delight.

Our stay this time was unfortunately brief but we shall return to Florence and indeed to Hotel Casci.

We stayed at the Casci in 2002 with our children and enjoyed it greatly and have just returned from our second very enjoyable stay there. The standards of service are better if anything than before. The staff could not be more helpful-from finding us a dentist on our arrival on a Friday afternoon to booking museum tickets and recommending excellent local restaurants suited to our needs. The hotel is just 5 mins from the Duomo and 10 mins walk from the railway station-it could not be more convenient. Everything is within easy reach. The breakfasts are excellent, as is the standard of cleanliness. Free internet access and air conditioning are available. This hotel offers real value for money in a homely, friendly environment. We could not rate this more highly. The family and staff are such lovely friendly people -from the moment you contact them by email.

Everything about my stay here was wonderful, from the prompt response to my email asking about availability, to making reservations for me at the Uffizi and Academy. The location is terrific...very close to the Academy and the Duomo. The room was lovely, with a private hallway and table between the bedroom and bathroom. The bathrooms were upscale. TV and free wifi in the rooms, and free internet computer in the reception area. The room wifi code changed at midnight. This family run establishment prides itself on hospitality and service. When I was disappointed to learn that the Pitti Palace was closed on the day I had set aside to visit it, the proprietor helped me plan an excursion to the countryside (and Pisa). He looked up train schedules for me, and was very gracious in every way. The rooms had fridges, and there was a place across the street where we were able to pick up six packs of acqua naturale. The breakfast buffet was large. We could even make soft boiled eggs in a special contraption.
