“Gem of a place - fantistic location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2014

We recently stayed 5 nights at this boutique hotel and found the location to be exceptional. Next to the Uffizi, museio galileo, ponte vecchio well everything is within a short distance. Do go to the museo galileo around the corner! On the plus side - friendly, courteous, warm staff who are helpful. There is a lounge near reception where you can sit and read and the breakfast area is sunny and inviting. The buffet breakfast was plentiful - fresh fruit, croissants, breads, rolls, yogurt, meats, cheeses, jams, toast, coffee, cappuccino, tea, etc. Eggs, bacon can be ordered (small fee). Room was clean, bathroom was large.
There is an elevator but you must walk up a few steps from the street to access the elevator. There is a roof terrace that can be accessed which has great views. I'm told that the top floor rooms have an excellent view but were were on the 4th floor. Overall a very pleasant hotel and well worth staying at and I would stay here again. There are several fantastic gelato places (ask front desk) and we tried the Indian Tandoori restaurant across the river one night which had very good food that was reasonably priced.

Room Tip: If you want a great view ask for one of the top floor rooms. You can always go to the roof terrace t...

It was raining and they gave us umbrellas!
We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. We picked it for the great locations and reviews although we considered it a little expensive. We were not disappointed: great location (if you buy something you can come back to hotel to leave it without wasting time – the hotel is in your way no matter where you come from or go to), very nice and cozy atmosphere, and friendly staff. We loved the terrace on the top and we were sad that it was not open for breakfast (still cold in March).
Our room was at third floor, facing Ponte Vecchio. On Saturday and Sunday night is was a little noisy – party people were singing at 3 and 4 a.m. – we did not mind although we were very tired. I really enjoyed the bed mattress – it helped me relax perfectly after a full day of walking.
Breakfast is not abundant, but just right. If you stay more than 2-3 days like we did, it becomes a little monotone, a little variation might be good – maybe some boiled eggs and vegetables.
After 2 days of great weather, we planned a trip to Siena and Chianti. It was very early in the morning and it was raining cats and dogs. We thought to push our luck and ask for an umbrella to receptionist since there was no shop open that early on Sunday morning. He girl was very nice and when she found out that we are going to Siena she gave us two umbrellas so each of us should enjoy the trip.

This hotel is in a fantastic location, right in front of the Ponte Vecchio, a block from Uffizi, around corner from Piazza della Signoria. The rooms are clean and nice and the staff is nice, breakfast is basic but nice, and free wifi is helpful. It is a traditional European style hotel, meaning that from a US perspective things might seem a bit on the small size, but I think the room was great for tw people and the bathroom was a good size and it had a real hair dryer. The roof top garden is nice too. would stay here again.

I loved, loved, loved this hotel! It was in a perfect location...the staff was extremely accommodating and the price was so reasonable! I would stay here again when visiting Florence and will be recommending to all I know! It included a rooftop breakfast that was really fantastic with various cheeses, meats, pastries, and coffee! There is a little living area where we sat and had tea in the later evening...it was so homey! They arranged my taxi pickup, our outing in the country excursion, and even had offered and brought a tray of items for the next morning's breakfast when i had to leave earlier then breakfast was served! Near the Pointe Vecchio, the Uffizi, and most of the main sites in Florence and close to where my daughter was living, I just could not have been more pleased!

Just had a long weekend at the Hermitage and would recommend it to anyone. I asked for a room with a view and that's exactly what we had - it was comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. Its one minute from the Ponte Vecchio (which we could see from our room) and less than five from the Uffizi, so extremely handy. Great terrace on the top floor which would be amazing on a warm summer evening... all in all a fantastic place. I've only not given it an excellent as the heater in our room was a bit antiquated and not the best, but that was a small complaint in an otherwise great stay.

Room Tip: I booked a double deluxe and asked for a good view - which we got... hilariously we had a Jacuzzi ba...

Our family enjoyed a lovely stay at he Hermitage just before Christmas. The location could not be beat - just steps from the Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi, and central to the heart of old Florence. The rooms were lovely and very accommodating. The bathrooms were modern and well-appointed.

Two notes - our adult children weren't happy with the very limited breakfast offerings. And accessibility-wise, from the street entrance there are 6-7 stairs up to the elevator. That's not a big deal, unless stairs are an important factor for you.

I wanted a hotel with European ambiance but having never been to Florence, booking Hotel Hermitage was somewhat of a gamble. Boy, did that gamble pay off a hundred-fold!!!

European quaintness and charm, coupled with the helpfulness and hospitality of the staff, plus amazing views from the roof-top terrace and a centralized location make Hotel Hermitage a wonderful choice. I booked a four-person room for my three girlfriends and myself. Our room had plenty of space to stretch out after a long day of touring, and when we requested that one of the double beds be converted to two singles the staff was cheerful and quick to help us out. We also arranged to leave our luggage behind for Day 2 of touring Florence before catching our train, and the Hotel Hermitage staff was happy to watch our bags for us for an entire day, even though we'd already checked out. (That was a life-saver!) All three of my friends were impressed with the hotel.

Hotel Hermitage is centrally located to many tourist sites in Florence: Piazza Signoria, Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizzi Gallery, and a short walk to the Pitti Palace, the Duomo, and many other churches, art museums, markets and restaurants. We were in town the week before Christmas and it was just beautiful.

I will definitely be bringing my family back to Florence. Definitely staying at the Hotel Hermitage.
I'm very pleased I took that gamble!
