“Best people watching spot in city”
Reviewed 20 March 2014 via mobile

Stumbled upon Savoy just wandering around, ended up back here every day. It is a great place to people watch and the staff at the patio bar is great. Not pushy just engaged. Not cheap but not crazy either. We found that we ended up having at least one glass of wine at some point each day here. They acted like they actually wanted our business and welcomed us back each time. Very impressed. No idea how good the food or hotel is but based on sitting outside I am thinking it is spot on. Cheers....

First time in Florence, we had a great time at this hotel. The staff is very attentive and professional, everyone remembered our names and it was nice to be greeted each morning by a friendly face. Although our room was small, we loved the view of the Piazza below. Our room had a very small balcony and it was nice to open up the doors every night to listen to the buzz of the city. The room décor was modern, somewhat simple but we had everything we needed. Our breakfast was included in the rate and it was a nice upscale continental. We had drinks and appetizers at the outdoor café and they were very good but pricey. This is not a cheap hotel but you get what you pay for and we felt it was worth the extra money to be at such a perfect location. We walked everywhere and could stop off at the hotel between sites to drop things off or for a quick refresh, very convenient. Great stay at the Savoy and hope to return one day. Ciao!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the Piazza on the 4th floor are nice. If you reserve a standard room, ask to see...

We love small boutique hotels, but when we opted for luxury in Florence we hit the jackpot with the Savoy. Elegant, gracious, and attentive to every small detail. Service that is expediant and caring, but not cloying or overdone. Come back from a run and the doorman awaits with a towel and bottle of water and greets you by name. Come back in the evening and now only is the bed turned down (with heavenly linens), but any clothes you have left simply lying around have been meticulously folded for you. Location? None better, looking at the Plaza Republica -- with a Donatello statue looking back at you. We were amazed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the plaza.

We have traveled to Florence many times. On this trip we stayed at the Savoy for 6 nights. The staff is extremely gracious, the location unsurpassed and accommodations extremely tasteful.
The restaurant located in the hotel is one of the best in-house hotels I've ever had the pleasure. We cannot wait to return. It will now be home away from home in Florence.

The hotel is very nice and perfectly located in the city center. The rooms are modern and really represented my taste of design. Service was fantastic and we really felt at home. I think the only thing you could really say is that there was some lack detail when it comes to the finishing touches: the sink in the bathroom had something written on it where the marble did not cover, the toiled flush did not work 100%, the drawers of the side board where a bit broken. All in all a great experience, but would expect 110% from a Rocco Forte Hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the noisy elevator.

The location is superb. The staff were very charming and were extremely helpful with restaurant bookings and general information. Our room, 211, overlooked the square and was a generous size, albeit with a very small bathroom, the decoration was somewhat stark given Olga Polizzi's reputation for interior design. Beware that the ceilings are very thin however and we were subjected to what sounded like a herd of nomadic elephants throughout the night. Breakfasts are fine, but not overly inspiring. The general decor is in need of refreshing, but if you want a central location, this is the one.
