“Very Nice”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

Location is wonderful if you like crowds. A must if you are looking for AC before May in Florence. Beds are a bit hard and somewhat uncomfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. Buffet breakfast is excellent but watch out as there might be extra charges if you order something prepared.

The good: Hotel Savoy has the perfect location. 10 minute walk from almost every attraction in Florence. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

The bad: we got the deluxe room. The room was uninspiring to say the least. It was little more than bed, TV and bathroom. And even the hallways and the lobby were just, meh. My other problem was the room service menu. The whole menu was only 1 page and the selection was too classy for my taste. And the late menu (from 11 p.m onwards) has only 3 hot items: chef's soup, lasagna and a ham dish. Though there is a couple of restaurants right outside the building that can solve this problem.

Conclusion: if you don't mind the bland decoration and don't usually order room service, then this hotel is perfect for you. I would consider it even with those problems because of the superior location and lovely staff.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments. We were all so very pleased to read your compliments. Thank you.

Disappointed that our style of decoration was not to your liking, I would like to share with you that our design has been carefully chosen to create a sense of understated elegance within the public spaces and guest rooms. Herringbone oak parquet floors, Carrara marble, soft colours, local linens and fabrics, playful references to shoes and hats, and a blend of antique and contemporary furnishings whilst ensuring the room is comfortable to use, have been the approach of our Designer Mrs Olga Polizzi.

I regret we did not have the opportunity to meet during your stay. Seeing your comments I would have liked to show you some of our suites. Not only are these more spacious and offer additional comfort, you will also find the decoration is slightly more elaborate. At such time, we could have also made arrangements for your night meals. Although few of our guests have extensive meals during the night and in general the feedback is that the food selection is suitable, on request we can prepare a meal of your liking at any time of day.

We much hope we may welcome you back one day soon. Please do contact me directly on such occasion.

With the very best wishes from all of us,

Cinzia Zanella

The service is outstanding. Anything my family needed was taken care of. If we went back to Florence - we would go back. The restaurant is very good. It is expensive, and you do get charged for everything, but the experience was terrific. I recommend highly!

We arrived on the 2nd April (PM) and the porter (did not catch his name) who brought our suitcase to the room was very helpful and continued with an excellent service throughout our stay.
The room was very nice and very clean although a little over priced. Our room 302 was above the recycling bins which meant there was a lot of noise during the night, so did not get much of a sleep however the beds were very comfy. The staff at breakfast were excellent, we only had buffet breakfast but there was a good selection of high quality produce. We had drinks at the bar one evening and again the staff were excellent especially Jon Marco; he was very attentive, who's help was greatly appreciated.

Room Tip: Try avoid a room rear of hotel above recycling bank.

Thank you for helping to make my 60th birthday so memorable. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by everyone we met. We were given a lovely room overlooking the Piazza. However being light sleepers we asked if it would be possible to move, this was no problem. When we returned later in the day Rosa the Assistant Front Office manager took us to our new room. I mentioned casually that I missed having tea making facilities in the room, and again this was not a problem, on returning to the room there was everything needed to make a cup of tea. Another wonderful surprise was to return to a special cake to celebrate my birthday.

We would not hesitate to stay at the Hotel Savoy in the future. Thank you to all the staff.

From even before we arrived, we enjoyed attentive service from the concierge. We stayed for four nights in March (19-23). This hotel is central, but we did not find it too noisy. Our room had a view of the Campanile!
All staff work so hard, clearly, as a team. Doormen, reception, housekeeping, restaurant ALL deserve praise. Subtle and discreet. Friendly, not 'stuck up'. Genuine warm smiles throughout our stay, day and night. The team and the manager are to be congratulated.
Our room was a classic, but it was so nice I felt I had to check at reception that we had not been upgraded! Lots of storage space, free wifi. Turn down each night, mineral water beside bed. Only negative: no facilities in room to make hot drink. (Perhaps this is a mainland Europe thing, because the Lowry Hotel in Manchester had a kettle plus gorgeous selection of teas.) There are gowns and slippers plus REN toiletries in bathroom. We left our iPads and e-readers lying about, no worries. There is a safe.
We borrowed bikes (heavy street bikes) from the hotel. There is a jogging & cycle route map that the concierge gives you.
Our room rate included buffet breakfast which was of very high quality. We did not eat in the restaurant, but did enjoy an aperitivo our first evening: you feel you have really 'arrived' sitting on this piazza people watching, plus, as is typical, you receive delicious small dishes to enjoy with the drinks. Not cheap, but worth doing once.
On our day of departure it rained quite heavily, so husband used the gym whilst I rested. It's higher up the hotel with great views.
Would recommend this hotel totally.

Room Tip: Our room was on second floor, 220. Very high ceilings which does make a room feel more spacious. The...

Stumbled upon Savoy just wandering around, ended up back here every day. It is a great place to people watch and the staff at the patio bar is great. Not pushy just engaged. Not cheap but not crazy either. We found that we ended up having at least one glass of wine at some point each day here. They acted like they actually wanted our business and welcomed us back each time. Very impressed. No idea how good the food or hotel is but based on sitting outside I am thinking it is spot on. Cheers....
