If you want a truly magical experience in Italy you absolutely must stay at this hotel. This is a breathtaking, bucket list kind of an experience.

I cannot describe the sense of awe and wonderment we experienced coming into this hotel. The view, the gardens, the serenity, the amazing service and attention to detail all make this one of the most unique and fantastic hotels I have ever stayed in. Even the cab drivers would comment on the amazing view EVERY TIME we pulled into the property!

We spent 3 days here last week. Room #6 for me and my wife and room #4 for our kids. #6 -Huge separate living room area with library, beautiful oversized bedroom, nice bathroom, amazing view of Florence. #4 - large 2 double bed room with plenty of room for the kids to spread out. Both rooms were significantly larger than any other hotel room we have ever had in Italy including suites.

Arrived first day late morning and were early for check in but spent a couple of hours with our kids, 11 and 8, exploring and relaxing in the gardens. They have extensive, meticulously manicured gardens as well as fruit trees and functional gardens with all kinds of flowers and vegetables and it was delightful just wandering.

There are three donkeys and a miniature pony that our kids loved to visit with during our stay. It was so quiet and relaxing after a four day stay in Rome. The pool was perfect and has an amazing feel and view of Florence as well. There is a water garden that runs the edge of the property at the hill with stairs that run down to an area where the donkeys roam. We took the trail past the donkeys down the hill into town one of the days and it was steep but charming and beautiful.

Staff were excellent and handled all requests with tremendous efficiency.

Our whole family took advantage of the cooking experience with the owner's wife. She was an excellent host, taught us all a ton about the region and cooking and together we made a very memorable and delicious dinner.

We could imagine the life led by people who were fortunate enough to live here over the last 700 years. You could truly get a feel for what it must have been like to be a member of the Italian aristocracy wandering the gardens, enjoying the views and the sumptuous rooms.

One caveat - If you are looking for an interior corporate feel or a modern, everything-is-in-perfect-condition hotel you will be disappointed. The floors creak, the moldings may show some age, etc but the staff keep the place spotless, and I believe the building is kept in amazing condition given it was built in the 13th century.

All in all, it was a great stay. I would heartily recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and awe inspiring experience.

- Pete Kastner

Room Tip: Room # 6 is huge with a gigantic sitting room and amazing view of Florence and Duomo

Dear Guest,

How wonderful to host customers like you! It really makes us feel proud of our hard work to save this place and to slowly bring it back to its ancient glory.
I too enjoyed enormously welcoming you in our home for the cooking class. I know it might seem a little repetitive but as I said to many other cooking class pupils, I always have great fun and joy sharing my knowledge about Italian cooking.
Finally I want to congratulate you for the fantastic children you have, so well behaved and so interested in learning how to cook.
I realize you live so far away, but I really hope to see you back in Bellosguardo in the future.

We dare you to find a better view on Florence from a Tuscan hotel – you will hardly find it. But the hotel «Torre Di Bellosguardo» offers much more than drop dead gorgeous sights of this phantastic town: A staff which could not be more friendly, a pool which stays open all the time (something you cherish when you come back from a walk in town under sizzling 36 degrees celsius as we had earlier this June) and you are well advised to leave your rental car safe and sound in the hotel garage: a taxi is ready to pick you up literally in minutes and brings you downtown equally in minutes. If you suffer from hotel rooms which are too small for your taste, book room number 1 and you will be pleasantly surprised. Albeit the bed might not be for elderly people (it is quite high), it is also a bit squeaky (which we found more amusing than annoying) and rather small for two (a good excuse to snuggle however …). We can warmly recommend the Torre as a romantic retreat and the perfect deep breath of fresh air after enjoying the many sights and sounds of Florence. Will we come back? You bet.

More beautiful than the photos! We had an amazing time. Easy enough to get into town and city center. But hard to leave the hotel and pool. The staff was very nice, and the rooms and public spaces felt very clean and fresh regardless of the age of the building and furnishings. We especially enjoyed the gardens and grounds and visiting with the resident animals! Will definitely be back!

I was lucky enough to be whisked away to this wonderful hotel for a mid week break. As soon as I arrived and saw the sweeping view of Firenze I knew this was the perfect place.

Moonlight views of the city accompanied by fireflies has to be one of the most breathtakingly experiences of any where in the world.

Just a wonderful, wonderful place.

We were lucky enough to spend our honeymoon here. We had a gorgeous suite and from our window we could see the Palazzo Vecchio which is where we were married.
We spent a day just looking round the hotel and gardens.
The service is discreet and you don't feel like there are other people around which for a honeymoon couple is fabulous! If you are used to staying in hotels where you are bombarded with different room service options then this is not for you. We like to be left alone and we were.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning eloped here with Robert and there was a delightful book of watercolours & poems which the staff presented us with.
They also allowed my inlaws to access the suite before our arrival to scatter rose petals and leave gifts.
We will definitely return
