Beautiful buildings, and very posh shops line both sides of the street. Must take a photo of the lake.

Very pretty. You can walk around and hardly get lost, since the Campanile is visible from most parts. Do little walks, go to San Lorenzo, with its unfinished frontal, and to the Medici chapels at its back, and to the mercato next to it for good leather items, of which Florence is reputed; do not miss the Chapel of the Magi, a jewel in the Palazzo Medici-Riccardi (and look at the front of the building and try to find out the addition the Riccardis did...it's not an easy task!); walk up this same street and visit the convento di San Marco, where Fra Angelico lived and painted a good number of frescoes (which he never corrected because he said his hand was guided by God himself), in this place also lived the infamous Savonarola (condemned to burn in Piazza della Signoria; the spot is marked and Italians say is good luck to step on it); next to it is La Accademia, with marvelous David in it (and the 'slaves' carvings); visit Santa Maria de la Croce, at the end of a street off Piazza della Signoria, where Galileo is buried, and Michelangelo, and Machiavelli (and an empty tumb awaits Dante, good luck getting him from Bologna); and never forget the beautiful Ponte Vecchio very close to Piazza della Signoria.

Great Architecture, Buildings, Piazzas, Pontes, etc. Amazing feeling just walking around. Big Pecato if you do not bring your camera. It is free to walk around and observe. Many individual attractions, that you need to pay.
