“The place to buy!”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

Want a pair of linen pants- MADE IN ITALY? Or a dress? How about some cute shoes to match? All here, all great prices, all worth it. It can be boiling in the summer to visit, but the deals and amount of stuff will make it worth it! I have gone the last two Tuesdays, I am going today, and may go next week. I bought gifts for almost everyone here, and myself some cute new clothes! YAY....now the quest of getting everything into the suitcase when I go back home after my study abroad.

“Everything You Need”
Reviewed 22 May 2013

At this market, which is easily reached front central Florence by walking down stream along the Arno past a small fun fair, you can buy anything from a single pomodoro ( tomato) to the pan to cook it in and a gas cooker to cook it on. You can also choose whatever outfit you want to wear while cooking your tomato. There secondhand clothes, new clothes. Fashion, work, casual, sports, clothes for every occassion and footwear to go with them. There is fresh produce, meat, fish, cheese etc. Cooked meat that you can have in the local bread to eat while shopping. This market is usually only every Tuesday but we went on the 30th of April and found that they were still there on the Wednesday which was May 1st. which is a public holiday in Italy so maybe market a permission to operate on that day. Great market it would help if you at least tried to shop in Italian.

“Open Market every Tuesday!”
Reviewed 10 March 2013

Mercato delle Cascine is an open market beside the Arno river and Cascine park opens every Tuesday from 7am till afternoon (2pm). It is more accessible using Tram from the Santa maria Novella station, you can stop either at Cascine or Paolo Uccello station (fermata). Crowded but worth to visit, diverse foods, clothing shops and even Tuscan veggies, meat products & crafts are there at reasonable prices.

Tips: There is another large open market in Florence, they called it as Mercato della Scandicci but is only open during saturdays.

“Definitely worth a visit.”
Reviewed 7 August 2012

One of the better street markets, situated alongside the Arno. Lots of clothes of differing quality. Food, kitchenware, pets, plants etc, etc. Plenty of parking nearby too. A few remarks about safety in these reviews but no different to any other Italian market IMO and several police in attendance.

“The cheapest market in Florence”
Reviewed 2 March 2012

Mercatto delle Cascine is the biggest and probably the cheapest "mercatto" in Florence. It's located in Parco delle Cascine, which is the biggest park in Florence.
You can find there everything at a convinenient price: flowers & plants, vegetables, fruit, houseware, shoes and clothing, bags & handbags, purses, etc etc ... (see the pics)
The market opens weekly on tuesday, from 7am. to 13 or 14 pm, and you can get there from Santa Maria Novella by bus or tram (it takes no more than 20 min.)
You can also take a peaceful walk around the Park.
