My husband and I spent an afternoon with Giulio while vacationing in Italy. We were referred to him from Il Salviatino where we were staying. One of the best and certainly most unique experiences we have had!!! Giulio is delightful and extremely knowledgeable about truffles. We enjoyed his beautiful home in the Tuscan hills. He has lovely artwork displayed, all created by him. The actual truffle hunt lasted about 1 hour and we were able to find 3 truffles. Giulio's dog, Eda, is wonderful. It made us miss our dogs. Our meal that Cristina had prepared while we were hunting was delightful and filled with truffles. The bean soup with truffles was sooo good as was the ice cream with truffle honey. Sooo good. We learned so much and would recommend this to any one who would like to learn more about truffles and have a unique memorable experience.

We recently did the truffle hunt and cooking course with Francesca at Fattoria Collebrunnachi. I must say it was one of the most memorable experiences we have ever had.
if you are going to be in Tuscany it should be number 1 on your "to do" list. i have traveled all over and must say this day was one of the highlights of all my travels.

Myself and my partner (Jamila) did the wine and truffle tour in November 2013 (this review is long overdue!!). I can't recommend this day enough.
The Truffle Tour was a one day trip as part of a 3 month holiday around Europe and was possibly the best day of the entire trip (it was definitely Jamila's favourite experience!).
The first part of the tour was the Truffle hunting. Our Truffle hunting dog, "Chocco" managed to dig up about 7 white truffles before we went back to a local farmhouse where the owner prepared us a fresh lunch using the truffles we had just pulled out of the ground. It was excellent.
The second part of the tour was a visit to a local vineyard. The vineyard itself was completely organic and as well as wine they made olive oil and produced pork. We were able to sample all three and they were all excellent. I have been on a number of wine tours before but it has to be said that the attention to detail paid on this tour was head and shoulders above anything I have previously experienced. The wines we tasted were only of the highest quality and the tips we received around tasting the wines and how to pick out a good wine were excellent.
The best part of the trip however would have to be our guide, Hilary. Hilary is a professional sommelier and the knowledge she had of wines, food, Florence and Tuscany was exceptional. Over the course of the day we had a great time with Hilary, she is really friendly and great fun. Hilary stopped off at a couple of extra spots just outside Florence to show us some architecture that Michelangelo had built. As well as this she gave us a couple of tips on great restaurants (Persius) and gelato places to visit in the evenings.
It's thanks to Hilary and this first class tour that we nor consider Florence and Tuscany to be one of our favourite locations, we will definitely visit again and will be sure to book a tour with The Truffle Hunter. Steve & Jamila.

We came to Florence in November 2013, not sure weather is good enough for truffle hunting. Hotel confirmed it was perfect time to do so and helped us booked this tour.

Hillary was a fantastic guide. She gave us some background of Italian food culture before we started the private truffle and wine tasting tour. We first went for truffle hunting in San Miniato. I forgot the name of the hunter but her lovely dog Choco was very good at sniffing truffle. We found 3 pieces and they all went to our stomach at lunch. In this 16th century mansion, we were served this freshly prepared pasta with fresh truffle and a wide spread of cold cuts. We also tasted wine from this small winery. Hillary was very knowledgeable with wine and explained the differences to us easily.

We then visited another winery and we loved the wine there. Tasting took longer than expected and we arrived hotel later than scheduled. Hillary was very professional and we enjoyed it.

We would strongly recommend this tour.... One piece of advice: it is not worth to do truffle hunting after few days of rain.

We booked the truffle hunter for our family of 4 (2kids ages 11&14) after touring the museums of Rome. This was a welcome relief! A nice hike in the woods with our guide Francesca, her brother Paolo (who did the translating) and the truffle sniffing dog. We quickly found 3 white truffles. Along the way, Francesca and Paolo shared their knowledge of the truffle business. The best part of the day was after our walk we went back to their farm for lunch. Paolo showed us around the farm while Francesca cooked up a full meal of antipasto with fresh cheeses, homemade jams and of course various appetizers with the truffles we had found. That was followed by tagletelli and truffles. All served with wine. Then dessert of local specialty Christmas cookies. It was truly a wonderful experience and a great way to get the flavor of Italy away from the crowds and the museums. Highly recommended.
