“Authentic, rustic family run restaurant”
Reviewed 30 May 2014 via mobile

We came across this little family restaurant tucked away in a back street in the centre of Florence. The other diners were locals, the food was authentic Tuscan and excellent and the family friendly and attentive. A hidden gem.

“Pasta made at it's best”
Reviewed 30 May 2014 via mobile

We randomly decided to give this place a try since we read online that it's famous for its wild boar pasta. (Sounds pretty exotic!) we ordered that, ribollita and a homemade spaghetti. Ribollita was packed with ingredients, very filling pot of soup that's advisable to share around. The sauce for the wildboar pasta was tasty enough to complement the tagliatelle but not salty. Whereas the spaghetti are not the sort that's thin and al dente. It's slightly thick, and chewy which is surprisingly delicious. The sauce is simple but it's packed with flavour, the cheese and the amount of herbs used to complement it. FANTASTICO. One of the best pasta I had in Italy.

“Rushed service and mediocre food”
Reviewed 29 May 2014 via mobile

We stopped in for dinner and the man and his wife stopped 3 times to ask for our order before we even got through the wine list(5 minutes). They appeared irritated that we were still looking. One of the things we love about Italian dining is that it is slow, you have multiple courses and enjoy the wine. Well, we ordered a 2005 bottle of wine, they brought out an already opened 2011 bottle with no explanation or asking if it was ok (we would have ordered a different bottle for the price). We didn't say anything, but then they came back again to take our order and I felt rushed so we ordered a salad and again they seemed annoyed as she shouted back that we only ordered a salad. We would have had multiple courses, but they were rude. We ordered a wild boar pasta- the salad was below average and the pasta was mediocre at best. Salad took less than 2 minutes to come out, and pasta took between 5 and 10 minutes. We had a bottle of wine, a salad course, then a pasta course and the bill in less than 40 minutes. Rushed and poor service- we had so many amazing dining experiences in Florence, walk 1 minute down the road and eat at sasso di Dante for fabulous food and amazing service!

“Informal, great value, great food”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

Oo, this place was lovely! I got the impression that if every tourist in the city went home tomorrow, nothing much would change here.

We only had room for one plate each - an outstanding selection of cheese and ham with focaccia - but other diners were cramming in more, and it all looked delicious.

It's not atmospheric, but it's GOOD. As long as local radio doesn't spoil your lunch.

“A local secret”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

Family run little place we first visited, (several times), 3 years ago. If anything it is now even better. It's basically a deli with tables. Papa cooks and Mama serves with a smile. Inexpensive but great quality. The fact that it is sometimes full.....of locals......should tell you all you need to know. Try the Ribollita; you won't be sorry.
