“Best Hotel in Florence”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2011

This was my third stay at Hotel Centrale, and as usual everything was excellent. Staff people went out of their way to help us, including calling Rome to confirm tours there. Breakfast was the best I can recall in 8 trips to Italy, including cold cuts, pastries, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, etc, plus capuccino. Rooms are not huge by US standards, but larger than most in Europe, and the bathrooms are modern and well-organized.

The location is superb, a few blocks from the Duomo in one direction and a few blocks from the San Lorenzo market in another. It's on a quiet street with limited one-way traffic, so street noise is non-existent.

They also provide free internet!

This attractive hotel is down the street from the duomo and within easy walking distance of all the major sights, yet is quiet and peaceful. The breakfast was the best of all the places we stayed in Italy. The staff were courteous and helpful.

A very quiet hotel on an upper floor just a short walk from the train station and the Duomo. A small elevator takes you up if you don't want to hike the palazzo stairs. A wonderful escape from crazy, noisy Firenze. Staff is super-helpful, friendly, and speak excellent English. Breakfast is European and very tasty, with plenty of cheese, pastry, bread, and sliced meats. Rooms are clean and comfortable (except for the usual hard Italian mattress.) Hotel has a small bar with espresso machine and you can purchase a drink anytime of day. Many good eateries in the neighborhood. Just a few blocks from Santa Maria Novello train station on one side and Brunellesci's Dome on the other. Most major tourist attractions are within walking distance. Free wifi is in the bar/breakfast area. There is also a pc available near the front desk.

Clean, good price, excellent location, good breakfast, very friendly and professional staff. Arrived by car and hotel has an agreement with a parking service near by. What more can one ask? Perhaps a bit more umpf in the cappucino? Or by adding some chair glides to the chairs in the breakfast room? Though both are luxury details and would not stop me from going back to the hotel. So in short - a hotel a really recommend.

We arrived from a very cold Christmas on the Amalfi coast, and it was so wonderful to come to this hotel. Great control over the heating, a very nicely decorated room, a great breakfast, free use of a computer with internet, a convenient location, a lounge, large bathroom. All those things met our requirements and then some. But there was an extra bonus at this hotel. This hotel was welcoming to people with disabilities. It was so lovely to see the acceptance there. A wonderful and accommodating staff.

Please book there - a blissful stay.

This hotel is extremely well located, less than a 5 minute walk to the Mercato Centrale, Medici Chapel, and Duomo, and less than a 10 minute walk to the Accademia and the Palazzo Vecchio. The rooms are good, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was a good size. We had no noise intrusion at night. The breakfast that was offered was adequate. The hotel offered fruits, cheeses, meat and bread as well as juice and coffee. The added bonus was that the hotel staff made me espressi each morning free of charge. The hotel staff was pleaseant, spoke English, and accomodated all of our requests. All of this and the price (64 Euro/night) was spectacular. I recommend it.

The service was wonderful here, and the employees were very nice. No one in my group spoke Italian, but every employee we met had wonderful English so it was not a problem at all. The staff at the front desk was very helpful with restaurant suggestions, information about getting to the airport and train station, and suggestions for things to do and see in and around Florence.

The room was large and clean-our only problem a clogged drain in the shower, but it wasn't much of a problem.

The location of this hotel was fantastic, and the main reason we picked it. It is right in the middle of the city and close to many sights and museums. It's also right down the street from the Santa Maria Novella train station-very handy when there is no metro system. The hotel offers wi-fi, as well as a computer for guests to use. The breakfast was good, and had drip coffee as well as espresso.

I can't say that I spent a lot of time in the hotel other that sleeping and breakfast, but what I experienced while I was there was very comfortable.
