It is a beautiful cathedral with tuscany touch. I arrived at 9 AM & already found a very long queue.

The duomo dont have a piazza, so it is impossible to take a pic with Duomo as the back ground

Florence is one of my most loved cities that I have visited, and what a way to see it than from the top of the Dome of the Duomo. We were blessed with a clear day, beautiful temperature that allowed us to get a spectacular 360 degree view of the city and it's surrounds. The hour long wait was worth it. This is a must, if you can survive the 450+ steps to the top!

The Duomo blew my mind, it really did! The Cathedral is so beautiful from the outside but you never imagine what it actually contains. The Duomo has some of the most incredible frescos I´ve ever seen, so beautiful and creepy, so dark, so incredibly real!! The tour is very well organized: you get to climb to the top and see the cupula from a very short distance and you also get out on the terrace, where the views of Florence and the Tuscany greens are just impossible to describe. If I had to choose one thing to di in Florence, this would definetely be it!!!

Although the Vatican was impressive, I found this Cathedral to be the most inviting. Unfortunately, it is over-run with tourists who seem to have lost respect for the grace and serenity that comes with a religious setting. There was a service being held at the time of our visit, but that didn't stop the disrespectful tourists from talking loudly and taking pictures at inappropriate times. Aside from this, the inside of the building is amazing. One really needs to sit and take in all that surrounds them. There is a fee to enter the Cathedral now, unlike my first visit 20 years ago. If possible, take a stroll past the Cathedral at night when it is lit; it's magical.

this cathedral catches your eye from every street in Florence... every glimpse even between the alleyways from the city are pretty amazing...
if you have time, the audio tour is chalk full of very interesting information, especially a beautiful explanation of the artistry and technical challenge around the dome.
