“A lovely retreat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014 via mobile

If we visit Florence again we would stay here. We so enjoyed returning to our room with it's pretty balcony overlooking the garden, after a busy day sightseeing. It was very relaxing. Although I have to agree with previous traveller who would prefer that the tiny bathroom was not overpowered by a bidet. There just was not room for it & it made using the bathroom an ordeal instead of a pleasure. I wonder if the management would consider removing them from smaller bathrooms. It was also not pleasant using a toilet that was just 2 feet away from the top end of the bed! Another small gripe was that coffee making facilities were not available for our superior room when we arrived at 8pm as housekeeping had finished for the day. And I often wonder why hotels rarely provide hooks for coats as there is usually plenty of space near the door. We were pleased to find the air conditioning was working well during our stay. Breakfast was good but not outstanding, & I wish it had been warm enough to eat it in the lovely garden. We did enjoy one evening meal there & though expensive, the setting is truly beautiful & the service excellent. The staff members were courteous & efficient & I'd like to say a special thank you to Paola who gave such cheerful service at breakfast time. All public areas were very attractive & spotlessly clean. We hope to return to Florence one day & would definitely stay here again.

Dear Guest,
thanks from all the staff for the nice comment you posted, it's always a pleasure for us to see that our job has been appreciated and made the difference on your stay.
Concerning the coffee facilities, I'm really sorry to see that has not been sent to you at 8pm, as housekeeping is on duty until 11:30pm in full service and from 11:30pm to 6am on reduced staff, but always available. I will investigate upon what happened if you will have the chance to send to our mail your room number and day of arrival.
Concerning the Bidet, I agree with you that sometimes could be seen as "invading" the bathroom, but believe when I say that this "piece" is a big part of our culture and can't be taken off.
I hope to welcome you again at the Rivoli and give you a new totally positive experience.
Best regards,

Would have marked hotel as excellent but for a couple of issues. We had confirmed via a email for a superior room with a bath tub but this was not set aside for us on arrival. We were moved to a suitable room for our remaining nights. This had a nice balcony and we could sit out and enjoy the sun. To compound our first night's problem the toilet cistern broke and water stayed running all night - not so much of a problem for us as we could close doors in our room to block out most of the noise but a bit of an issue for our friends who were in the room adjacent to us and they thought they were next to a waterfall.
Internet was not working when we arrived and it patchy throughout our stay. It depended on which room you were - not great for a service you are expected to pay extra for!! (Payment was refunded).
Breakfast was adequate and we enjoyed two meals in the restaurant.
Hotel location is great. Near to the train station and the town centre, museums and major attractions were a few minutes walk away. Watch out for bikes, cars and motor scooters as you negotiate the streets.
Francesca on reception was excellent and did her best to remedy our issues.

Room Tip: Our second room was 221. Great balcony and quieter than those by the street.

We stayed with whole family of 5 persons in two acceding rooms with inside door.
great situated just outside centre but with lots of cafe and restaurants around.
Big Classic decorated rooms with lots of space,
Very nice inside garden were coffee or breakfast is served.
Real value for money.

For my husband's conference, we opted to stay in Best Western Hotel Rivoli, not close to the Duomo or the center but within easy distance of the city's best attractions. We had a standard room - spacious and comfortable furnishings, except for the small bathroom As in most hotels constructed ages ago or perhaps in the 80s (?), there is that one bathroom fixture which is an 'eyesore' for me - the bidet. It would have been ok if the bathroom is big but for a small one like in Hotel Rivoli, it's very cumbersome and very inconvenient to freely move around the bathroom. As in other 4-star hotels, the bed linens and towels have a particular stinky smell. No choice but to use them :(. Is it due to the laundry detergent used in washing the linens & towels? Some great 4-star hotels though have towels and bed linens that smell sooooo.. good like a newly bathed baby!
Anyhow, the hotel has a lovely sitting room, a 3-fork Michelin restaurant which unfortunately we should have tried it on the first day we arrived ( was fully booked on May 8 when we decided to eat in 'Benedicta' - should have known better to make a reservation earlier), breakfast was ok, and efficient service from chambermaid. AC was only working on the 3rd day of our stay so not much sleep due to the warm temperature inside the hotel room for 2 nights. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and always exciting to visit Florence again and again.

Room Tip: High floors perhaps facing the courtyard.....

We had a big standard room with comfortable beds and the hotel itself was full of character with a friendly bar , lovely gardens and excellent restaurant. We were next to the road so some noise is to be expected but when the windows were closed it was not a problem. The staff were very courteous and helpful.Would recommend highly.

Due to a SNAFU we were moved from the Best Western down the road to a suite here. WOW. What a lovely experience. The location was a little off the main streets but within 3 decent blocks of the main church; this meant very quiet nights with windows open). VERY friendly and accommodating staff (speak English but do practice your italian), nice amenities (soaps, shampoos, tvs, linens), terrific breakfast included, could go on and on. Work the deals early for your room, worth the upgrade to a suite if you can get decent pricing; I cannot remember the exact amounts but Best Western is a customer service dynamo. Typical room on the street side would be noisy, and I can see summer time here being hot to sleep if the AC 'isn't working'. We had a great experience and would come back.

Room Tip: ask to not be on the street side; via scalla. Try for upgrade before and while there. Summer time ma...

Dear Guest,

wow! thanks for the nice comment posted !! we really appreciate to read that we met your expectations. I totally agree with you when you say that rooms on the garden are very quiet respect to the front ones, even if double windowed they are always a litte bit noisy!
I hope in a next visit to florence you will also have the chance to try our restaurant in the garden or the hot Jacuzzi outside so that you can post another very nioce comment like this!
Waiting to welcome you again at the Rivoli, from all of us Best regards and Arrivederci !!

We stayed at the Hotel Rivoli for two nights. It is a beautiful hotel with clean, comfortable rooms, cozy seating arrangements and a nice courtyard, which unfortunately we were not able to take advantage of because it was raining. It is within walking distance to just about everything that you would want to see in Florence. The breakfast was good, which brings me to the point of the restaurant. We decided to eat at the restaurant the first night because we arrived pretty late at the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by the menu and how delicious the food was. It was so good, that we ate there again the second night!

My only complaint was that they don't turn on the air conditioning until May 1st and the room was warm and stuffy; however, that seems to be fairly common in Italy because none of the hotels that we stayed in had their A/C turned on.

Dear Guest,

It's always a pleasure to see that you spent a little time to write on TA your opinions on the Rivoli.
I personally take care that all of us try to do the best to welcome and assist our guests.
The Hotel itself is a very particular building in the city center and, if from one side this might be positive other guest might not be happy ...but this is where we are!!
The restaurant is well appreciated from our guests and I hope you will have the chance of having a nice and romantic dinner in the Garden !!
Waiting to welcome you again at the Rivoli, best regards from all of us and ...Arrivederci!
