“Nice hotel, clean, undesireable location”
Reviewed 30 May 2010

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. This hotel is nice and very close to the Arno river. It's 10 minutes to walk to the Ponte Vecchio (you can walk along side the Arno river). The beds are hard to sleep in. The shower doesn't have a curtain to close while showering, but a small plastic covering (water tends to splash on the flower). The front desk staff was helpful to some extent (some individuals). There was one front desk staff (short man with curly hair) who is very sarcastic and responds to questions in a manner as though he's bothered; this makes one uncomfortable to ask ANYTHING at all. I have traveled to Italy several times, therefore I am somewhat seasoned and not the first time tourist...this staff member could insult anyone from his behavior. All in all, everyone else was trained in customer service. The waiters in the morning breakfast were friendly (especially Giacomo!!) He spoke English and initiated conversations with the guests.

Nothing wrong with a stay here. Great location for driving to, not to difficult if you follow their directions. The car park is small, we arrived late so it was full, but they have a deal with a garage around the corner for €20 a day - not bad for Florence and pretty hassle free. The location is great for sight seeing, short walk to all the major attractions and the river. We travelled with our young baby, so wernt out late, its a city centre location but we never felt anything but at ease. So to the Hotel, I was a bit worried as we email to confirm a babys cot bed but got no reply, but when we arrived everything was ready for us to our relief. I know its said in most other reviews(which I did not beleive) but the staff were really excellent, I really have to stress that. The hotel was comfortable if a little dated, but you are not in Florence to stay in your hotel room. We ate in the resturant across the road which was good and also good value, and the one in the hotel which was neither. Breakfast was good, usual buffet fair and plenty of it.

Clean rooms at decent rates, helpful English speaking staff, nice garden patio, and a differentiating factor is the free parking in the inner hotel courtyard. If you are driving through Italy, this is something not common in old cities like Florence. So, if other hotels are quoting valet parking at 50Euro/day, think again about this hidden gem. 50Eu can be spent on much more beautiful things in Florence.

The only mediocre thing about the hotel is breakfast - and that's in Italian terms, it's a typical North American Best Western standard breakfast, which is tasteless and nothing to be proud in Italy, but folks from this side of Atlantic would likely not mind - just saying that there is no prosciutto di Parma and mozarella di buffala Campana... but there's corn flakes and toast... then again, breakfast should not be your focal point in Florence to begin with, so who cares...

Good location and easy to find, particularly if travelling by train. Needed to stay two extra days (volcanic ash problems) and staff were most helpful. Hotel is well decorated and clean, but breakfast is average. Rooms are stylish and quiet. No complaints. Would stay again - a good choice, especially at the right price.

We were 4 couples travelling for a long weekend to Florence & Pisa. We selected Grand Hotel Adriatico as it was close to the railway & coach stations in addition to Best Western being a good brand name, photos looked good & other reviews favourable. The reception staff were very friendly & professional, all our rooms were ready on arrival and check in was easy & prompt. All our rooms were next to each other on same floor, which we liked.
We enjoyed drinks & snacks in the bar during the afternoon. Service was excellent.
Directions on hotel website were accurate and it was easy to get around Florence from the hotel. There was a market outside the hotel on Saturday. There are lots of bars & restaurants in the area. Breakfast was good and plentiful.

This hotel was a very good surprise. Rates are good, rooms are clean, friendly staff, free parking (but pay attention to the fact that this one is quite small), good breakfast.
The location is fine; 10 minutes walk from the duomo/shopping area.
I plan to go back to Florence and will definitely stay in this hotel.

One of the best things about this hotel was it's location. Just a very short walk (5 mins)from the train station and allows for a nice walk to all of the major sites within the central part of the city. The hotel itself was nice and clean, and the staff were friendly. I wouldn't say anything really put this hotel over the top, it was just a nice average hotel. The room was clean and fairly comfortable. There are a few nice restaurants in the area, and one that we ate ate a couple times was just across the street and was very nice. you will have a nice stay at this hotel but it probably wont blow you away.
