“It really is right in the heart of Florence”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2011

One of the most welcoming hotels we have stayed in - our family includes a toddler and a teenager. The room, room service and breakfast facilities were all excellent. The best thing was the location, even though it is right in the heart of the city, you are not disturbed by the bustle of life outside your window.

Room Tip: 116 or a room with a view of Pza De la Repubblica

Hotel is in the heart of this beautiful city and is finely furnished. We travelled with our daughter as a birthday treat for her. The hotel surprised her with a lovely cake.
Hard to fault apart from the renovation work to the tower which will be finished in June 2011. We requested a room change as we did not wish to have scaffolding as a view and we were upgraded to deluxe without question. The rooms are top rate and furnished beautifully. The staff could not have been more helpful. We will most certainly visit here again. You get what you pay for.

Room Tip: Room 420 has a lovely outlook towards the Duomo.

The hotel is ideally located in the heart of Florence and it was our third time there. Last time our room was not ready and they tried to put us in a "box" for the first night because they don't live up to their promises. This year we were promised the room we had before but didn't get it. What we did get was a refurbished room, visually pleasing but among other things, had a pitifully poor excuse for a bathroom requiring 8 trips from houskeeping to fix various things. Also, we had to take two elevators and steps to get to that room. But the icing on the cake happened the second day of our current visit. We came back from lunch and there was a total power failure because the hotel is still under construction. They should have never re--opened so soon. Worst of all, they lied and said the power would go back on in two hours and, in fact, by the time we hastily left three hours later nothing changed. There is a total lack of concern on the part of management. We are seasoned travelers and have had challenges from time to time but this was revolting. We had to quickly find another hotel because we were in Florence for 7 nights and they didn't even offer to pay for the taxi to that other hotel. This hotel is totally misrepresented and their apathy extends to their returning clients.

Dear Mrs Cindy Luzon,

I have had the chance of reading the comments on the Hotel that you have left online with TripAdvisor.
You had been esteemed Guest of the Hotel in the past and I trust that you had booked the Hotel Brunelleschi again to benefit of its comfort and of the Hotel Staff attitude towards the Guests.
The Hotel rooms have been completely renovated during the last winter time so that you have benefit of one of the brand new rooms; the bathroom as well is renovated and the fittings usually don’t need to be fixed being brand new.
At midday of April 4 there was a lack of electricity in our block ; the Hotel power emergency generator was on for 1 hour in the entire property so that there was a power failure until 6pm.
There was much concern on the part of the management to arrange a different room for you i.e. a Junior Suite at no additional cost for you which could have helped to make your stay even more comfortable.
I have been much surprised that you didn’t accept our offer and that You decided to leave the Hotel; I am also very much surprised that, in your comment, you are not referring to our private correspondence dated April 19th where we are offering You, as a esteemed Guest of our hotel, to keep the amount you paid for the first night as a deposit for a future booking at the Brunelleschi.
I am at your complete disposal for any further explanation you may need on this matter; as you know you can reach me by email or by phone at any time you like.
Best regards

Walk right into the Duomo attraction the hotel's exterior is old but with great character.
Rooms are newly furnished. You may still smell a tinge of paint.
Breakfast is a good variety.

The hotel was undergoing a major renovation and gave no advance notice of this fact. Our reservation for a junior suite was changed to a deluxe room without our knowledge and consent due to the construction work. Scaffolding and workers surrounded half of the hotel. The construction noise started at 7 AM and didn't stop until 6 PM. The small front entrance motor court was crowded with construction vehicles at all times. There was never a concierge on duty and hotel was slow telephone calls for any reason. Overall, this three night stay as part of a 4 city 12 night vacation was a disaster. Caveat emptor!

Dear Client,
First we would like to thank you for your honest feedback. We appreciate your detailed comments because these will help us polish our hotel services as we undergo our current renovation. Also, we are truly sorry that you were not satisfied with our services during your stay, but we are happy to inform you that all construction and renovation of our 95 bedrooms will be complete by April 11th of this year.
We gracefully accept your expressed opinions but the scaffolding present during your stay and the hours of operation of the workers are unfortunately not under our control. The specific structure and process of the renovation of our antique building façade is decided strictly by the condominium and city law. We empathize with your frustration and apologize that our facilities fell below your expectations.
Again we regret to hear that the front desk staff performance didn't exceed your expectations, but as you can see from the many comments made on trip-advisor and other sites, our staff is regarded highly by numerous clients. However, we have shared your comments with our staff and assure you that they will be extremely useful for the improvement of the quality of our Hotel standards.
By the 11th of April we will open our 25 renovated bedrooms and by April 16th we will unveil our renovated façade. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to host you once again and provide the service that we are so proud to maintain at Hotel Brunelleschi.

Best Regards,
Claudio Catani - General Manager

This is a very nice hotel and it certainly looks the part. It's very elegant and, once the renovations are complete, I'm sure it will be fantastic. The service was amazing. The room were a bit small, but very clean and tidy.
The location is also excellent. It's only yards from the Duomo and close to a vast array of restaurant/shopping options. Florence is quite small, so it's also pretty close to the other main attractions.
However, the building works were slightly irritating, if only because we were not warned about them and they meant we couldn't see out of our window. They were also quite noisy. We were out most of the time, so it didn't really affect us, but it could affect others, I guess.
To be honest, it's a nice hotel, but it comes with a high price tag. You could probably stay somewhere cheaper and still enjoy Florence just as much. You probably won't be there much, anyway.

Room Tip: If you care about luxury, this place is perfect.

However, we have shared your comments with our staff and assure you that they will be extremely useful for the improvement of the quality of our Hotel standards.
Also, we are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy our traditional Tuscan dinner, but we would like to explain that, like the major part of the hotels of this catagory, the American is also the place where meals are served. In this case we are lucky that our American tower is located on the ground floor of a Byzantine tower of the 6th century a.C.
By the 11th of April we will open our 25 renovated bedrooms and by April 16th we will unveil our renovated façade. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to host you once again and provide the service that we are so proud to maintain at Hotel Brunelleschi.

A FLORENCE MUST!! Hotel Brunelleschi was without a doubt the best hotel we stayed in throught our european honeymoon. Set in the picturesque backstreets of central Florence this beautiful hotel is very private yet very centeral, literally a 2 minute walk to the Duomo and in the heart of all the Gelati bars, resteraunts and Piazzza squares. Our room was amazing right down to the fine details. Our room was large for europe and was very modern looking with elegant touches. Bathrooms are luxurious wih large shower heads and even towel racks that heat your towels up for you. Our rooms were cleaned spotless every morning and night, they even leave you courtesy cards by your bed telling you the next 2 day forecast in Florence along with some lollies. Its these fine details that you can really appreciate. Aswell as the fine details comes that brilliant service. Reception will be sure to greet you everytime you walk past and will bend over backwards to make sure you are looked after, especially with helping you around the city centre and reccomending hot spots. I am a very fussy person when it comes to accomodation and i will reccomend this hotel to everyone i come accross who is making a trip to Florence...Thankyou Brunelleschi, you will see us again!
