“Wow! What a gorgeous hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2011

Unfortunately we could only spend two nights at this wonderful hotel. We were extremely impressed from the moment we walked through the doors. There is a real feeling of luxury from the moment you arrive. Reception is always busy but the service is very professional.

The room itself was fantastic. Separate small lounge with wall mounted TV; bed room with king size four poster bed and second wall mounted TV; Nespresso machine with complimentary coffee; walk in wardrobe; huge bathroom that included a spa bath and wet room shower. We were blown away by the quality of fixtures and fittings -amazing!

The location is also extremely convenient with a whole host of eateries, entertainment venues and of course the sights within easy walking distance. This really helped when we needed to return to the hotel to freshen up in the searing temperatures!

The breakfast buffet offered an excellent selection and the service was very efficient. Be warned that ordering coffee for breakfast results in a pot of instant coffee.

We also decided to eat in the Santa Elisabetta restaurant in the tower as a treat. It was a very romantic setting and the service was extremely attentive. The food was beautifully presented and of good quality, although a little on the pricey side.

This was definitely the most impressive and luxurious hotel we stayed in in Italy during a 15 day stay and we would not hesitate to recommend it to others. We shall definitely return.

The outside is an old church which is magnificent. Centrally-located which was so convenient to venture out and see things.

Inside was a beautiful, upscale, trendy, newly-renovated. Beds so comfortable. Shower was huge. Neat, clean, comfortable. Big flat screen tv in room. Wake up call on television set was a great feature...you felt like you were waking up in heaven.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Internet service pricey.

Would definitely return. We selected the hotel based on personal recommendation from a friend. We were given a handicapped accessible room overlooking the Via dei Calzaioli and the Migone store. We could watch them decorate the Christmas tree in the forecourt of the Duomo from our room.

The main entrance is down a small laneway, so a good map or taxi are a must. The hotel was in the midst of renovations, making the entrance a little muddy, but we had no issues with construction noise.

Having just been renovated, the room was lavishly decorated, had plenty of comfortable places to sit, good storage, although overall it was one of the smallest rooms we stayed in...with the largest washroom. The wheelchair accessible shower (no tub) had a powerful showerhead - We flooded the bathroom a few times, but soon figured out how to get the shower to drain quickly. There was also lots of counter space. It was a dream washroom - as long as you don't mind that the internal walls are frosted glass. Good WiFi signal strength in the room, a good sized desk and daily turndown service made our stay even more comfortable.

The only part of the stay that was below par was the breakfast. It was very average - some of the pastries were obviously two days old and certainly not baked in-house, but there was a good selection of other items to choose from that made up for it and the coffee was excellent .

Service was excellent - as expected in this type of hotel. The front desk was able to secure last minute tickets to galleries that were sold out on line, recommended excellent local restaurants and housekeeping was quiet and efficient.

Overall, skip the pastries and have a wonderful stay.

Though the hotel was under construction I have to admit that the room I was given was comletely renovated, very comfortable and very clean.
Breakfast was excellent with big variety as well.
Location perfect. Can not find better.
As I travel to Florence at least once a year this and I have tried several hotels this is the
best found. I will go back end of this month as well and I hope I will have the same feelings and recomendations.

We stayed here for one night (not enough time!) in June. We had two rooms next to each other. We walked to the hotel from the train station which took about 15 minutes. Next time I would take a taxi because it is difficult to walk down the crowded sidewalks and cobblestone streets while trying to roll your suitcase along. It is also a bit tricky to find since it is on a tiny street.
The location, while a bit tricky to find the first time, is fantastic. It is a few minutes walk to the Duomo. With Florence being so compact and walkable I guess that most hotels are in a good location!
The hotel, being recently remodeled, was beautiful. Our two rooms were located on the first floor. The set up of the hotel is a little unusual. We took the elevator to the first floor, walked down the hallway, up a short flight of stairs, past the small restaurant, down a small flight of stairs to reach our room. It was fine for us (it always felt like an adventure getting to our room) but might not work for someone who cannot do stairs. I am sure they have plenty of rooms where no stairs are required so if that is an issue for you it is something to request when making your reservation. The rooms were extremely quiet which was nice.
The rooms were lovely. Decorated beautifully and were clean and extremely comfortable.
The breakfast (included) was very good and the front desk staff was great. We arrived in the late morning and our rooms were not ready (we did not expect them to be) so they stored our bags for us.
We would definitely stay here again!

We were exhausted after some late snags at the airport. Upon arrival, they could tell we were tired and asked if we were celebrating anything special. We mentioned that it was our second honeymoon and the man told us he was going to upgrade our room. That was an understatement. It was the nicest SUITE in the hotel! Beautiful accommodations and located seconds from the Duomo. The breakfast was great and the bar was nice. The staff was always knowledgeable and helpful. They recommended great restaurants. The hotel is a great choice to make your Florence trip even more memorable... I highly recommend it!
** My only complaint: The wi-fi is not free and does not work in the rooms, you have to go to the bar or lobby to use wi-fi.
