“Sexy Room Decor, Super Service, Comfy Beds, but Stinks to Drive To”
Reviewed 19 October 2011

Hubby and I stayed there Oct. 11 and 12. The room and bath were the most lovely out of 5 hotels we stayed in during our stay in Italy. The bed was by far the most comfortable. I loved that they used a down comfie with a duvet cover. None of the other beds we stayed in Italy give comfort to the top covers. We stayed in hotels that were 4 or 5 star ratings.

Paulsen and Beatrice at the front desk were fanatastic aiding us in local arrangements and assisting us in a rental car return. Both were extremely focused on taking care of the guests. Paulsen loves his job and it shows. (He should go to our Tuscany hotel and teach them about customer service)

The hotel is in a perfect location to explore historic Florence. However, it will not be found by your GPS extacly. It is near the Duomo about a block, but tucked down a street (st. Elisabetta). If you looked down the street you would not think a hotel could be down the block. It sits back in a very tiny square. I would recomend if you get a car rental that will pick up or deliver to you. Better yet, do not have a car any where in proper Florence. Also, make sure you have extact directions or a cab to get you to the hotel.

Breakast was very good -One of the etter ones we had. Several great restaurants per Trip Advisor within walking distance.

I loved Florence and loved the HB.

Room Tip: If you are sound sensitive, get a room higher than the 3rd floor if it facing the main street. Hubby...

We stayed at this hotel recently and were, overall, sufficiently impressed and satisfied to recommend it to others, and to even return there ourselves someday! Interestingly, the review submitted by Laetitia1978 perfectly reflects all my own thoughts about the Brunelleschi. I was about to write a more or less identical review, focusing on the exact same points for praise and criticism! Perhaps I’m just being mischievous but there’s one thing I can’t resist adding: the general manger, who I notice has responded to some tripadvisor reviews so defensively, regularly strides through the reception area with an air of great seriousness and importance (recognised him from his pic on the hotel website). He should try some eye contact and a smile now and then. His staff might take his lead and behave a little more warmly to guests!

The only thing we would say is about the restaurant, there are too few options of food to choose!

I booked this hotel some time ago, and as i read more comments I began to worry about the complaints ( snobbish staff, over priced etc.)written by others. I was very pleasantly surprised Check in was very efficient and friendly. although I did request a room with a view or in the tower when I arrived I was told none were available ( I had booked a single room for only three nights ) , but the room I was given on the 2nd floor, was newly renovated, and very tastefully furnished. I was impressed by the cleanliness, and the little extras such as towels by the bed, slippers etc. The bathroom was very modern , no bath but a large walk in shower with great fixtures.
Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of warm and cold food, different kinds of rolls, fruit, and even proseco wine if you wished to imbibe early in the morning. I noticed that table cloths were exchanged after each diner, which you certainly don't see in most , even 4 star, US hotels. I found the standard of service very high, and very pleasant.
My only worry would be noise, since the windows of my room ( 212) opened out to the main shopping street at the side of the Duomo. Rooms facing the small piazza near the entrance to the hotel would be much quieter. However with the windows closed ( and air condition on) the room was quiet.
I most certainly would return to this hotel

Room Tip: The higher up the better in terms of noise. Try for a room at the side ot the entrance on the square

The Hotel Brunelleschi is located right in the heart of the historic district, around the block from the Duomo. The rooms are on the small side but most hotels in the city center are small and the the rooms utilize the space well. There are many little luxuries around the room including a large flat screen TV, 3 phones, nice toiletries, fluffy towels, comfortable bed and pillows. The staff was helpful and friendly in that Italian formal way. The breakfast was very good including eggs, potatoes, pastries, fruit, cold cuts, cereals, and breads. This is a very clean and comfortable accommodation.

Room Tip: I would suggest asking for a higher floor the 1st floor was a bit noisy due to street sounds.
