My fiance and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in April 2012 and weren't sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. You never know what you're going to get with European hotels when you're used to American standards (larger bathrooms, comfy beds, etc.), but this hotel didn't disappoint. You can't beat the location. It's steps away from Il Duomo and right off the Piazza Republica. The bathroom was more of an "American" style in that the shower was large, the room itself was spacious and you didn't have to shower over the toilet like I've experienced in Europe before. The room was large, the bed relatively comfortable and there was even a couch to relax on.
We never ate at the hotel restaurant or went to the bar there so I can't say anything about that. We did, prior to our arrival, order a bottle of wine and a meat/cheese plate to be delivered when we arrived. After traveling from Chicago, it was nice to have this authentic snack waiting for us and everything was delicious.
The hotel itself was a little weird. You ad to take a small elevator up 1 flight, walk through a hall, then take another elevator to your room. We never were able to find a way to just take stairs all the way up. But that wasn't really a big deal. It did sort of smell like chlorine in the common areas too, but again, not a big deal.
Overall, I would definitely recommend staying here. You get a great room, a great location and clean, high-end accommodations for what I think was a reasonable price. If we ever go back to Firenze, I'm sure we will be staying here.
