We had stayed at the Monna Lisa for a few nights after a cruise...we took the train, and upon disembarking, realized we had no idea how to navigate Florence, so took a cab to our hotel. Absolutely breathtaking, this is a former 15th century palazzo...everywhere we turned, we were amazed by the beauty. Our room was great, and the breakfast is stupendous!! As we strolled the hotel, a few things that stood out were the "Mona Lisa Room", where dozens of Mona Lisa paintings are displayed, most of them hysterically irreverent. The gardens are beautiful and fragrant. The bar is a charming area to sit, and the actual bar is an antique (kneeling area? confessional?) from a church. A year and a half later, we decided to travel again, and chose the Monna Lisa. Everything was as we remembered it, and if possible, the room was even nicer!! This hotel is also nicely situated to the Duomo, and walkable to every site in Florence. The only drawback is the mosquito problem, but that is citywide at the time of year we were there...

Room Tip: All rooms are good, but keep in mind this used to be a palace....as you walk to your room, take notes of landmarks so you can find your way once the bellhop leaves you...;)

We stayed at the Monna Lisa for 3 nights in May 2014. The hotel is an older building with a lot of common rooms and a lot of interesting versions of the Mona Lisa painting. It was fun to walk through the rooms looking at them all.

The room was very clean and large enough. However, the air conditioner never really worked and it was quite hot in the room, even at night. We did ask them to look at it, but not sure they ever did.

The breakfast was good - the only request would be something hot for the breakfast. Everything was cold, but tasty.

The best part of the hotel was the beautiful gardens. Walking through them to our room was wonderful - the flowers smelled glorious!

We would consider staying here again - the location was great and easy to move around the city.

Stayed at Hotel Monna Lisa for two nights in March. Had a double room with a small bathroom window overlooking the garden courtyard. Room was fairly small, but adequate size for two people. Hotel had running hot water, decent size shower, nice European continental breakfast with friendly staff (especially Priyan the waiter-who was very helpful with our travel questions!) nice bar area, beautiful Italian courtyard with walking path, and quiet! Hotel is clean, has lots of interesting antique furniture and statues to look at, is within easy walking distance to the Duomo and other central sites in Florence. The mattress wasn't as comfortable as I would have liked, but other than that, I liked the hotel and would stay here again, but in a larger suite!
.

Room Tip: Ask for a courtyard view room for quiet, or a large suite for the space.

Stayed at the Monna Lisa for a week May 2014.
A bit dated but full of character. The garden was like a little oasis in the middle of Florence and all the staff were friendly and helpful. All of the main attractions were within 15 minutes walk and decent places to eat were even closer. Irish pub serving very good Guiness was five minutes away.
Only reason they did not get a five star rating is that after a week the breakfast was getting monotonous, no variation for the whole week. For a shorter stay however I would recommend the Hotel.

Room Tip: A room with a balcony is ideal and very quiet.
