“Fabulous and charming”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Stayed for three nights. Great location for seeing Florence.

Lovely charming room - clean and airy. Liked the fact that the hotel had given us a mosquito plug in as there were plenty of them about!

Nice breakfast. Great staff - helpful and friendly. Made suggestions on places to eat and booked attractions and restaurants on our behalf

Free wifi only in communal areas which was a bit of a pain

Let start at the beginning. The Staff is extremely friendly and funny. They speak English, and were very helpful on dining suggestions that are close by. Very centrally located, walk anywhere, that what's so great about this city, transportation is not an issue, you simply walk. The breakfast is delicious, and the bar out in the gardens is a nice treat after a long day of walking. Very quiet. The rooms are a renaissance decor, very clean! We had two couples and shared a room, funny that there were 4 single beds, two of which you can easily slide together for a couple, part of the charm. We only stayed two nights and were pretty beat from travel, so it was perfect for us and a great way to save money! I would absolutely stay here again. Love Hotel Monna Lisa! Bellisimo

OUir last stay in Europe before returning home; the main part of the hotel dates to the 15th cent.
originally a religious retreat and then became a hotel; original stone floors and antiques thru out
with wooden beams in the ceilings; As in most hotels in Florence, the hotel is on a narrow street,
no trees on it; great access to a marvelous restaurant down the street (la Giostra); it can't be
beat; the hotel has a very fine breakfast-dry cereals, fruits, the largest prunes I've ever seen,pro-
ciutto, cheese, hard boiled eggs, various breads and of course coffee-decaf and reg., attentive staff; you can eat outside in the garden; the front desk is willing to help in getting your boarding
pass for a plane and confirm pick up for transportation; when they call a cab for you it's there in 4 mins. or less.; it's within walking distance to main attractions; it was our best stay during
the month we were traveling.

Room Tip: Bathrooms in the older hotels are admittedly small for placing personal items; don't take more t...

During my stay at this poorly put together establishment, I encountered a less than friendly employee named Francesca. She was ignorant and an overall cantankerous person. She ruined my experience in Florence, and I firmly believe she should no longer be employed at your hotel.

Just back from a glorious visit to Florence and this small and charming hotel played its part. Our room was just right, cool and dark with a touch of Renaissance. We were road side which meant very few mosquitoes, and only one loud morning out of 3 which was hardly a problem.
Breakfasts were continental, delicious. Service was very good, served with grace, courtesy and by the bartender, a lot of humour!! We so much prefer the small independent hotels than the huge impersonal giants and we were not disappointed. You would not know what lay behind the imposing wooden doors on a small road!!! And, the biggest delight? Turn right out of the hotel, turn right again and there down the quintessential narrow road is the Duomo....glorious!!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are great I think, but keep air con up and windows closed to keep mosquitoes at bay. The h...

Lovely little hotel which is really quiet but smack in the centre of Florence, well within walking distance of all the beautiful attractions and amazing restaurants. The rooms are lovely, comfortable (though the double beds are two singles pushed together) and the baths are jacuzzi baths which is great.

The breakfast was ok, nothing special and they gave us UHT milk with our breakfast which upset my husband :) but did provide fresh milk when we asked. The garden is lovely and drinking at the bar last night was really nice, the bartender was brilliant and very funny.

The wifi is only in common areas and you have to pay extra for it in your room ( very expensive at 5 euros for half an hour).

Parking is 22euros and well worth it if you have a car as parking in Florence looks like it could be a nightmare.

Would stay again, it's very beautiful inside and the location is perfect.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Monna Lisa in January of this year. The hotel is so beautiful while being unique and quirky at the same time. The staff were friendly and helpful. One man in particular went above and beyond. I believe his name was Brian and he was a "jack of all trades". We got to know him sitting in the adorable little bar while he was bartending. The day we left we had a very early flight and as we were checking out, Brian showed up for work. Breakfast didn't start until 7 AM but he made us coffee and brought some pastries out. ;-)

The hotel is in a great location near the Duomo and most major attractions in the center of town. Plus they are on the same street as the most amazing restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of eating at. La Giostra. If you stay at this hotel be sure to check this restaurant out.
